Yeah, use to work at an ag place where we pumped mixed chemicals into sprayers & they let them run. Heck, sometimes they had to run awhile to keep things mixed. But did not have to pay for anything there, if I over heat something it is now my bill. So it gets shut off as soon as possible.

Swapped the gears out once experimenting with a lower gpm & either set of gears still looked new.

Most transmissions have oil coolers on them, on our tow trucks we had larger coolers on the transmissions since we would run the pto for hours on large accidents, our tractors are set up the same way and I have not noticed a rise in transmission temp during the summer months. I will leave my pump on while loading or unloading our Miller trailers without trouble and we have yet to replace a pto or pump, one is 14 years old and the other was 12 years old when we sold the tractor. we do use synthetic gear oil in the tranny and synthetic oil in the hydraulic system with a large tank (30 gallons) so that may help. The only hydraulic system we had any trouble with was on our Landoll 7 car carrier, the fluid would get very hot, we installed a hydraulic cooler with a 12v fan and still had trouble then we found some restrictions in the feed line at the nose of the trailer, fixed that and all was good to leave the pump on to load (took about 45-60 minutes depending on how damaged the cars were), don't know about the tranny temp on that unit the tractor didn't have a temp gauge.

    Just these 2:

This trailer got stolen from me.
I had problem clearing tandems on a extremely tight turn, but it was rarely an issue.
I think it gave me more than feet of extra room at bumper level.
I am in market to buy new trailer right now and leaning towards a Wally-Mo 7 car custom.

I have a miller t7 no shotgun deck but the top deck extends and raises to load a headrack on the truck. I had this trailer behind a Volvo with the meritor freedomline 12 speed tranny with no clutch. Volvo wanted an unreal amount of money for a PTO setup for this truck because it has to be tied in to the computer somehow since there is no clutch to engage the PTO. So I mounted a 10 gallon hyd tank on the truck with a push pull diverter valve from northern tool and run the trailer off of my power steering pump. pull the lever the pump works the trailer push it back in and you have power steering. I run 100% transmission fluid though and no hydraulic fluid since it is going through the powersteering pump. hydraulic fluid will cause the pump to fail early.

Several people warned me not to do this, said it was too hard on the power steering pump. but in three years I have replace one pump and it was the stock one and was a little weak when I done this conversion. I would not recommend this on a 5309 Cottrell or a trailer with a lot of cylinders but the miller has only 6 and 2 of those just extend the back ramp and the fron top ramp to load the head rack. really ony 4 lifting cylinders and I can lift 3/4 ton and one ton trucks no problem.

a new powersteering pump is $230 and only 2 bolts and a 10 min change if it does go out versus the over $3000 Volvo wanted just for the PTO and computer link, not installed.

Leaving S.V. out as I really have no knowledge of them in person. But the highlighted pretty much sums up the entire thread covering 6/7//8
    car high mounts.

Miller has them on build quality. Got to see the welds (& how they do it) before prep/paint today in the factory & those guys do some amazing work. Strap version late summer 2014? 8 car later this year? Have heard them talk about it...

Give it to Wally Mo on innovation & throwing everything out there they can in terms of moving decks & a strap/chain option all in one.
They have 2 versions of an 8 car too.

Cottrell for name recognition on the 7 car side. Like that their neck/floor is all the same across the board. Wish Miller would max out one design & be done with the long/short neck versions.

There really is no wrong one amongst the three & understand why people really do not switch brands so much. Gets expensive if you pencil out hydraulic/plumbing hook ups & various other odd stuff. Some of it is just supplier differentials, where Miller uses Ridewell oil bath & Wally Mo/Cottrell run sealed grease hubs with the tiremaax option. The tension spring lock for the chain/strap bar bolt on in most locations on Wally Mo. Both Miller & Cottrell weld theirs into place. Meaning you have to cut them off to fix/replace vs grabbing a wrench to fix.

I will add one note on axles, in the past we had Ingersoll Rand axles 17.5, always had brake issues, switched to Hendricks and they have been much better.

But on the last two trailers I had built 2011, 2012 we went with Ridewells and were probably one of the first Air Disc Brake setups they built, I would hate to buy anything else at this time.

No adjustment, no fade, no heat build up, very good build quality, excellent stopping capability's and feel, the only issues we had were both axles had seals that leaked within a couple of months, replaced them with the one piece Gold series seals and have not had an issue since.

I need a trailer like right NOW! But I may buy a cheap/old trailer just to get me buy, I hate to spend big money for a trailer and have to settle for something that is a compromise.

Good luck on the last sentence. Was watching every thing that went online publicly for 6-8 weeks & found old, but definitely not cheap. Those come with the complete compromise option list as well.

Yeah, I hear ya, the funny part is I was looking at some of these prices and remember a deal back in 08/09 I could have bought all of those trailers, used them for the last 5 years, and sold them for what I would have paid for them, (palm to forehead)!

I think I am just going to get a decent wedge or S/A SC 5 car for the new guy, and see where it shakes out.

I think they are loading those side rails or something with gold on the high mounts from looking at the prices. lol
I will say they don't depreciate like a stinger trailer does.

At this point I am half thinking of buying a stinger and having a "neck" put on it!
