We are currently in Oakland Co, right next door to Clinton Twnship and have investigated/called a handful of the companies listed by both Chinatown and Jumbo.. and they are indeed hiring. Troy area, Warren area, Macomb area. Dearborn, Romulus, and Taylor while further from Clinton but not to bad of a drive also seem to have a lot of options.

    Good Luck!!

I took the CRST position to get started in this industry, knowing that it would keep me away from home for 3.5 weeks out of the month. However, now that I'm qualified for something else, I want to be home more often. I have a 6 & 5 year old who want Daddy more than four days a month. I decided early on that I would take a regional position as soon as I could in order to accomplish this.

I realize that by doing this, I'm leaving a lot of money on the table. We've accepted that sacrifice. I have the knowledge and skill to grow nearly all the food my family needs, and that's the direction we're going to go.

So far, I've only looked in those little magazines in the truck stops. The companies that advertise in those usually include maps of their hiring areas. Most don't include Michigan. I knew there had to be jobs around here, so I came to this forum to ask the real experts.

Re: Jack Cooper Transport – Due to some previous comments I made as a dispatcher for Cassens, I'm pretty much unhirable in any Teamsters shop.

Check Blue Line Foodservice and Cardinal Logistics. Those companies have good home time. I think they both want a year experience, but apply anyway online. Many companies bend their hiring rules a little for a good driver.
