I recently lost my job im a very experienced tanker driver, i have 9 years in at 29 years old local and out of state did both. one company for 8 years. I went from making 90,000 a yr at 22 to make 60k a year at 29 it does not make much sense. I want a company that pays well looking for 70k a year 12-14 days out home 2 days. I have 3 children that im not willing to stay out months at time. any advice on good companys out there i got a packet from crst or cst trucking coming in the mail as a lead driver training how ever 1month otr home 1 week. give any advice if you can thank you. bakersfield ca

Look at some LTL companies like ABF or Old Dominion.

I'm with ABF, home every other day, and I average 80k.

Might help if others had some idea of where you live to refer you to companies they know about .

Seems to me there would be lots of tanker companies in Bakersfield! You need to get out there and beeat their doors down. I'd think after several years in the area you would know who they are, but if you don't, check phone books and on line. Good luck to you!

You made 90k a year with one year experience at 22. 9 or 8 years ago. And people responded to this like it's not bs.

I don't know your record or what you're hauling. I would assume that being from the great city of Bakersfield you would be associated with some type of petroleum product. If your record is clear and you have a good work history then you can just about go anywhere and get a decent job. Well a job that might reach that kind of pay. You know as the rest of us do that any large starter company is not going to pay you any amount you're worth. If you are into gasoline hauling then I would recommend the Stockton area because I've seen a few companies looking for drivers. Besides, there are plenty of loading racks around that area all the way over to SF and up above Sacramento. You know the old saying "don't quit until you have another job". You shouldn't have any problem as long as you go see them. Let the companies know there's a prime driver that's looking for a change. Advertise your skills and let them chase you for a change.
