I was responding to the comment that all companies were going auto, and the implication manual transmissions would be made obsolete.

I have driven both and I'll take my auto. Don't get me wrong, Nothing wrong with a stick but I put in my time with a 13 speed and I'm DONE! I can see why some of these companies go auto when they are hiring right out of school. New drivers can be hard on a 10 speed. I really doubt that sticks will disappear in 5 years. Maybe in 10 years they will be a little more rare but I don't think they will ever disappear. A friend of mine said U.S. Express is getting rid of their autos.

I hate crap-a-matics with a passion. Take all the fun out of driving, allow a driver to become lazy, and also takes the drivers control of the vehicle away from the driver in my opinion...especially in rain, snow, sleet, hail and freezing rain. It also allows them to not focus on driving. you cant text and drive and do your makeup or primp in the mirror or all that other distracted driving crap, when you have to shift all the time. I also think it delays and decays a drivers instincts when a situation arises requiring quick decision making. Manuals also save the hell out of your brake pad and rotor/drum life.
I refuse to buy another car that has an automatic in it. all but about 4 of my cars have had manuals. all five of my mustangs were manual, my zx-2, both my honda accords, my honda civic was as well. my f150, my explorer sport my ranger and my cavalier all had crap-a-matics in them.
and since most car makers are phasing clutch and stick manuals transmissions out, I will just not buy any brand new cars ever again. I will buy used!
unfortunately most manufacturers are going to this paddle shifter garbage or the bump shift with the automatics or the +\- sign buttons on the shifter. i just laugh at these dumb kids who think theyre actually driving a manual. if you aint manually shifting and clutching...you are NOT driving a MANUAL. Generation Lazy Spoiled Brats can keep their dumb crap-a-matics and shove 'em up where the sun dont shine as far as I al concerned. -

There are some places that went automatic and are now going back to manual. I'm getting back on the road again next week and I'm really hoping it's not in an automatic.

I love the drivers who think if your not shifting your not a truck driver.
To me, It's silly and self centered. Everyone will have a preference. I love my auto. I did YEARS of shifting and I can also switch my auto to shift anytime I want and sometimes do. It's like a gun or a brand of car. Everybody has a favorite.JohnBoy Thanks this. -
