Where can I find help understanding IFTA reporting? There is some info on the GA DOR website, but it doesn't explain in detail how to report, what to report, how to get or use a credit, etc.
Any help would be appreciated!
Or if anyone has any info on a IFTA-IRP software to use, I would love some suggestions!
Thank you!

IFTA reporting made easy......
I only run 1 truck, So I use the state's online reporting site..they calculate everything for me..Cant go wrong. And its free! (I huge relief,I used to have to sit down for 3 hours everey quiarter and do my fuel taxes on paper)..
Now,Its 5 minutes and im done! -
Could be that Georgia is not that way. -
OOIDA/Transcore. Fax or email your trip sheets, then print and sign your IFTA report at the end of every quarter. Simple and easy just for beginners like us, and only 22 bucks a month.
-
lets see...$22 a month equates to $66 a quarter per truck right?
Cheaper to do it yourself.......If your state does not have a 'Free' online account......You can grab the ol' calculator and figure out your tax for free.
Just a few tips to strengthen your bottom line for the year..
I personally do EVERYTHING myself..some folks call me the Last of the real independents..
I do my own IRP,IFTA,UCR, Insurance filings,FMCSA updates,Etc......
I am the Driver,Dispatcher,Safety dept,Maintenance man and bookkeeper all rolled up into 1. My Wife assists with the Dumb Brokers when i need a Backhaul. -
Did you get any help with understanding IFTA? If not, I can try to help you. I worked for the IN revenue for 20 years in IFTA and IRP. It really isn't that complicated. You need to track you miles by jurisdiction with routes of travel and odometers. Total those quarterly on a summary (that you keep and can locate). Keep all fuel receipts. Again total quarterly on a summary (again that you keep and can locate). If you are using a "live" system. Print out the summaries. For some reason, these always are different when printed for an audit 2-3 years later than what is reported on the return. When completing the return you need the quarterly total miles, quarterly total gallons purchased and each jurisdiction's miles and gallons purchased. Enter the information into the jurisdiction's online system for total and jurisdictional miles and gallons. You will be given credit for the fuel purchase at each jurisdictional tax rate for the fuel credit. The actual fuel tax will be calculated on actual gallons consumed in each jurisdiction multiplied by that jurisdiction's tax rate. The net amount is what is due/refunded from the return.
The documentation is VERY important in case of an audit in the future. Especially an IRP audit. -
that was my response
but you have to match your gallons to the mile to the state (so i keep a daily record of each) tally it up at the end of the month, go on the website, pay or get paid (depends on how and where i fueled) and i am finished
not five minutes, more like 30 but its a cinch
