There are many small company's out there that have good equipment, benefits, hometime, and pay. We just don't have to look very hard for drivers.
Who is looking to expand?

You can run this business with cash flow for a while and think you're making profit but all it takes is a couple of major breakdowns, slow weeks/month, trucks parked looking for drivers and the truth will eventually come out. You cannot run a fleet of trucks at what Schneider pays on mileage for any length of time and make profit. It's simple math- $1.30 will not cut itBigBadBill, tsavory and SL3406 Thank this.

I know that where I am signed on at I can't make the numbers work. Maybe they.have a Set amount and they don't push for more I make good on one truck but after the extra insurance fuel and maintance their health and taxes I just am not seeing enough to make it worth a drivers time. May just be where I am at. I know a company near me running box advertises 1.02 all dispatched miles and I avg more than that flatbed but does not seem enough I wont run a driver if they cant gross 1000 a week some tell me most be happy with 500 bring home but I fell its to lowball even with the fact home 98% of weekends and your right home a few times in the week some weeks.
I am willing to say it might have to do with I am not much of a business man and probably just not sure what I am doing. LOLBigBadBill Thanks this. -
Agreed 1.30/mi may make you some but that 3000 turbo and 2800 new frontend a clutch and transmission will kill any profit you had for weeks/monthsBigBadBill Thanks this.

That market you should be able to clear $1.80/mile staying regional and getting home time.

When customer demand needs 10 trucks plus I am looking to get rid of all owner operators and just have company trucks. So I will be needing another 15 by years end.BigBadBill Thanks this.

So you saying that as a flatbed driver leased on to a company I should be around 1.80/mile? I do get the home time every weekend and thoughout the week most weeks heck some weeks everynight not that often though.BigBadBill Thanks this.

I'm looking to expand, but only equipment wise. Shooting for two nice 48' reefers and a tandem convertor dolly, and working into a pattern with some shippers I frequent in order to string together some doubles runs around NY/MA. Not quite the same expansion as most of you guys, but it's increasing my operating equipment count and revenue, if we can get it nailed down.
Cetane+ and BigBadBill Thank this. -
That is acheivable and more.
