Anyone have any info on them. They said ya need 2 years. I'm about 6 months shy of that. They told me I'd have to start as a driver helper first then become a solo driver ? They didn't say how long though, they did say I wouldn't be long ha.

I don't know if it's different for each dc but in central ny they are taking people out of school So you should be fine. Have you called a recruiter to ask them? Would be your best option
-
It is all by DC needs. I'm on the grocery side with Mclane, my DC requires 2 years exp. I got in with 6 months of experience because they were needing bodies. If you can get on as a helper, go for it, at least its hourly.
-
Thanks man. Do ya know what the hourly rate is? And is it a set start stop time. Like 40 hours a week 50 hours a week? Or just what ever ya work?
-
I don't know how the food service works but I am sure it is not hourly, I believe its case count + stops, not sure. For the grocery division it goes by weight, revenue, and mileage. I wish it was hourly!! Grocery division runs teams and we usually work 15-24 days, food service I believe has hotels for layovers. I am on call (extra board) I'm sure foodservice does the same but not 100% sure, this is probably my biggest complain, its so hard to have a personal life because they literally call you at anytime as long as you have hours on your 70 and they will try to squeeze every hour out of you, at least my DC does. Put it this way, I once worked 40 hours in two days and 27 hours in one day, and when I mean a day I mean in one trip lol.
-
Buddy of mine work for the foodservice n told me before if your route takes more then a day to do u get a hotel for your 10hr break since they run daycabs. Says they have 1,2,3 day routes. Also they get paid per case per mile per stop

I drive for the grocery side for eleven months and loving the money and off time but that's it mclane does not mind paying you to work and that's what you will do is work my division(southern) hired me with only a year exp. because the requirement is two years or 50,000 miles I verified that and they had me in orientation one day and in a truck that night I started on extra board for about two mouths 1500 a week now I'm on my second bid and I make 1100 a week and off sat sun go in Monday night home before dark tues go back out wed night stay in hotel third night home fri before dark

if your thinking of working out of burlington nj or swedesboro there will always be openings. be prepaired to work very early mornings 12-3am and not have 2 consectutive days off. if ur young and fit u can make good money. just gotta work for it. I used to run hard doing that stuff but after drop n hooks and bumping docks and sleeping while im getting unloaded ive turned into a lazy bum and could never go back to that. then again I dont make nearly as much

Manassas Va is hiring drivers right out of driving school. Extra board is tough because of no set schedule. Once you get a regular route, it gets better. Pay is decent, but the recent addition of scanners has increased the length of the work week by 3 or more hours for no additional pay. Drivers are paid by mile, stop and case. 2 day runs also pay a $20 per diem. Plenty of work at this DC
IronRyan Thanks this. -
I drive in the nw for mclane. Good company hire out of dtiving school, automatic trucks but we got drive cams so every little thing thatll trigger the camera to go off, and your in signing a paper... they act like kids there. Say you had no wreck, no preventables ever... well if you have to make a judgment call and turn around a corner a little to fast you will get called in to sign a paper. Its dumb but saves you if your in a accident... they take the drive camera #### too far on us drivers
