First off I'm a new member but have been reading the threads on this site for years. Usually I can find out what I need to know from past post but this time I don't see anybody with the same situation I have. I have a 2009 volvo 780 with d13 642000 miles. I have had it for 4 months and it would regen every 2500 miles almost at that exact mile. It had now been over 6000 miles and the truck hasn't requested a regen. It still gets the same mpg and seems to be running just had good as before. I called volvo today and the guy who answered the service line said that it's not a problem. I have just been worried about it and wonder if this has happened to anybody else. Thx
volvo regen

I don't know about the 09 but on my 2014 I can see the soot level when I go to aftertreatment option on my dash screen and go to ats status and scroll down.

You bought it the beginning of winter might have an effect on its frequency. The more you idle the more it will regen. Driving on the open highway you don't need it. I had an APU and never idled. I very seldom had to regen.

Maybe that's it. I have been doing strictly open road and a slight bit faster lately. Thx for the response you guys.

Let the dpf do its thing. I have the same model as you with about the same mileage,. Mine has been regening in 800 mile intervals for the last month or so, then when the weather warmed up it went 2000 miles between. I would recomend when you get home, just have volvo do a 7th injector flow test and cleaning. That will clean it up and make sure you are getting good spray into your catalyst. Most common thing that screws up a regen is that injector not flowing well and therefore not getting things hot enough inside the dpf. I do it about every 6 months. Replacing that injector is only about 350 bucks in parts as well/

My truck is about same but 08,got it in July 07 new; 780,D13/ runs a regen at approx 2000-2600 miles,; If i pull light with high mpg over 8, doesn't run the regent only after 5-7000miles; also depends on fuels; i fueled up spmetimes at this QTs around Dallas, or any pilots with diesel B20 and yhis fuels sux bad, is cloging the dpf needs regen more often won't pull properly: the diesel i buy in Canada pr Shell in USA gives me the best mpg, and never problems with this sensitive emission sistems.Regen and dpf was not a problem on this truck, the egr cycle caused me more headache: I'm team, I have now 1,250,000 miles, still pulling great ,original motor, over 8 mpg; I replaced the original dpf filter in 2012, after 950,000 miles, and last week i cleaned the new one for first time, with 300k miles; I still have the original 7th injector, and I never cleaned it.
