My cost last year was $1.13/mile,all miles. But I also had and extraordinary amount of trouble with my APU. I am shocked FEDEX would take on a driver with such little experience.NO OFFENSE...That may also explain why photos of large pile-ups on the highways almost always include at least one FEDEX truck.

The total amount the truck will be paid, that includes all surcharges and whatever extras FedEx adds to the gross pay they will pay to the truck, then MINUS the cost of the fuel, however much you pump into it, take that number, multiply it by 0.3 or 0.30 or 0.3000000000 ..... that will be your pay. Play around with the math and you will figure out how your pay will vary depending on how much fuel you pump in on a high paying or a not so high paying load ...

I still recommend finding another job, ANY other job, the best case scenario for the rate you could be paid, I don't see how you would be able to function as a human being at that rate, unless you want to call that truck Home ... Even the huge companies are paying a better rate than that and calculating your pay will be more straight forward, AND you will get plenty of miles

Well I guess I just have to start doing math quicker and only accept higher loads or call and ask for a higher rate when sent a bad load like this one, and if they cant do better ill just deny the load then because every one of yall is right I cant survive on money like that and I don't see how anybody could so I'll just have to start getting the hang of this and put my foot down because nobody really controls what I bring home except me. So I just have to get in the swing of things. thank you guys for the crash course in trucking as a complete and total noob it's been very helpful so far

    Dustin,
I worked for FedEx CC for a while and they seemed to have gotten worst about pushing loads out than they were when I was there. YOU got time to do the math and you don't have to take the load - no matter what the owner says or FedEx.

    BUT that said ...

I recommend you finding someone else to drive for, even in the FedEx fleet (they can set you up with another owner, they have someone who just does that) because you are already qualified for FedEx.

I would also strongly suggest that you have a contract with the owner, it should spell out everything in detail, who does what and who makes what. I would have him/her explain every section of it before you sign it.

The norm as I explained it works.

Im going to find a new owner soon, not only do I feel like im noy being told everything but his equipment is junk as well. So ill use hin to get the hang of this and then ill go to another owner and know enough to have a real shot at making it in this line of work.

    Hi Dustin,

What kind of truck are driving for FXCC? Is it a straight truck, sprinter, or cargo van?

Its a straight truck, not a very nice one at that. But I do love the size and its easy to get it anywhere I need to go. The sleeper is on the small side, I would love to have one with more room. She rides good but has a lot of nagging problems, a/c doesnt work, hard to start, no apu, transmission grinds and 5th gear almost never goes in... basically she just hasnt been kept up well over the years.
