Thanks Chinatown for trying to talk him down off the ledge.
All I could do was hold out my hands and drop my jaw in disbelief.
    600 hrs?
    5 months?
What in the world are they doing talking about lot lizards, vandalism, sleeping by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere??!!

This poor guy managed to find his way to the most hellacious, pseudo-trucking school on earth.

I hope he listens to you China.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Oh yea I have my permit. I have a tankers on it too. I've just yet to get down to dmv to take doubles and hazmat cause the #### school wants me their 6 hours a day with my one hour commute. They don't let you slide on days missed or hours either you have to make em up!

At the same time, don't do anything foolish. As appealing as the idea of taking out the instructor may be, the consequences of winding up with a rap sheet against you outweigh the benefit.

Many good companies in the Pacific NW. Trans-system website has 3 of those companies.

If the only cdl jobs were OTR then all the trucks would have sleepers. Keep on and get that CDL and find a local job if you still want to drive. It's no harder to find than any other job. It all depends on how hard you work to get it.

Alice Adams, author of "pep up the women" "you can do it babe" type of books? Died in 1999, one of the original bra burning libbers!

What the HELL_O does she have to do with truck school texts?

Try to keep one primary thing in mind; truck school instructors are the ones who couldn't make it in the truck! With regard to them barking at you, it is their low self esteem and their desire to act as if they have some sort of power over you...not worth getting your feathers ruffled over. You signed up for a driving course, like all the other courses, they are only intended to get you your CDL. Finish the course, you already have 3 Fifths of it done, complete your task and get your license.

You will hear and read more horror stories than good, accurate accounts of what this profession offers. Sure there are hard and rough times ahead in this industry, just like any industry and what you take out of it will be equal to what you bring into it. No matter your status, rookie, novice, youngster, or old fart ... each day will bring a completely new issue to deal with. How you deal with it will be the make or break with you, good attitude or sour, you can control the outcome of each situation as long as you keep your wits about you, and remember that each lesson is a new experience for your future background of dealing with problems and your reaction to individuals or customers.

Sounds like a crappy school. That being said, keep working at it and at the end of it you will have your CDL and you can move on and never have to deal with these idiots again. Also, keep in mind that you'll learn MUCH more once you finish school and get hired by a company. I went with Swift and learned a lot in the short 6 weeks I was on the road with a trainer. My first year solo I was still learning and to be honest after doing this for 7 years (now with a much better company) I'm still learning every day. The bottom line is keep an open mind, listen to what experienced drivers tell you and you'll not only learn as you go but succeed while doing it. Yes, your first couple of years will be tough but it's a process that most everyone goes through. You've already invested a lot of time in this, you may as well see it through.

Great post, the very last sentence is priceless. Control your reactions to their actions.....not an easy task but is absolutely key to making it or not making it.

a thick skin is vital to get by
so if the instructors offend you
