Not sure if you decided yet or cams to NCT,I've been here over a year and a half,it's not horrible but it's a crazy place to work, the will work you to death but you need to understand LTL before jumping on board. I am a road driver (48 states so they say) but I know a lot of drivers who live in New England and they get home on the weekends and a few times a week,it's a lot of stops and at times a lot of work. Pay is not bad,but sometimes you have to fight to get it.

Been there six years. Pay is great by today's standards, but not what I was making early 2000s with Jevic or P&P. Made $74.6k last year, my worst there yet. But I was only out 300 nights. More extra time at home. They don't communicate we'll with new drivers, so many leave in a month or less. It takes a year to learnNCT way, LTL deliveries, etc. Anyone going there should talk up a seasoned hand and get their phone number to answer questions along the way. They pay you for everything. My mileage pay is .494 per mile, but I averaged 64 cents for all miles last year. $150 per day if laid over, $15 per stop, relay delay time when awaiting relay from a team, $15 per hour after 2 hours at stop, $1500 safety bonus paid at Christmas, 50 hours at $22 per hour personal time paid at Christmas if not used incrementally during year. A person with a good attitude (it's all about your attitude, you're not going to change their south Jersey attitude) should make $65k first year at start pay .456, then better than $70k after learning how to navigate their system. A mentor is essential. Find one yourself during orientation. We run legal and compliant with FMCSA regs.

That was very well said sw7. I agree that its all about attitude. You have to work hard for what you want, It's not going to be handed to you. I don't work for NCT but I do work for an LTL company. Home every night, and I made 67k last year. I think I may make the Jump over to NCT if I could make almost 75k/year. I don't get any bonus $ or benefits either. I am very productive at what I do when it comes to p&d work. I love LTL

Don't work for them, but do know someone who worked for Western Freightways, one of their affiliates. Maintanance is average to below average on tractors and trailers, they are slow to fix things and quick to chew your butt if you get in trouble for something they are slow to fix. He left after 6 months when it didn't improve.

I agree with SW the company is challenging, and can be hard if you have never done LTL,and Youngblood I personally would stay with a company that gets you home nightly, unless you like to be away from family,NCT is not a bad place but at the thing is they do have minimums issues with shop, that is slow (but I have not worked for a company yet that has a super fast shop) the dispatchers you get can make a difference too,the souther dispatchers are kind of,well not very great full for you,the New England/local dispatcher are cool, the Great Lakes and Midwest are not bad,but yea your attitude and learning to cope with the Jersey way is interesting as well and SW you should bring that mentor idea up to HR...I had meet a driver here who's been here 8 yers and he has help a lot...

If any of you are still driving for NCT I would love to message you and ask some questions so please just let me know if that would be ok. Thanks.
