    Hello Everyone,

    I stumbled across this site a few weeks ago trying to find out more information on how to get a CDL so I can get a job in the Oil Field here in Texas. I grew up around trucks and I have always liked trucks. My dad owned several different ones over the years; Mack's, Freightliner's, White Freightliner's, and Peterbilt's. I never got my CDL since I really didn't need it at the time and choose a different line of work. But now that I am trying to get a job in the Oil Field I have discovered that it is pretty much a requirement. So far this Website and Forum have been really helpful in my quest for a CDL and learning what I need to do and some of the pit falls to avoid.

    I hope to make some new friends here.

    You're not to far from the Dallas area, so the variety of schools are probably plenteous. Not sure what kind of options are available to you, but I'm sure there are a few dependent on a few things...
    You might be able to get help from the state through a state program or if you attend a community college there is FASFA. Both of these will be depend on current finances and employment status.
    If neither of those are available and you don't have the money to pay up front, there are companies like prime, stevens, and quite a few others that will train you for what they call 'free' if you commit to a period of time to work for them. I wouldn't recommend the later option unless it's just the Only option.

    Millis Transfer in Burleson, TX has a good program.

    FFE in Texas has a CDL program and tankers in the oil fields.
