Certainly seems I have a lot of haters on here or fair mix of positve/negative responses, but I had a great day at school. Instructor said I did well got it up to 10th and was going 55 on my drive with a little 100 ft straightbacks. I'm a guy who likes to learn, and felt no quit in me today. I wont quit, just 2 months to go. In too deep. Ill keep you all posted. What Darren said is sometimes, if ya turn a lot lizard down and rub her the wrong way she is libel to cut your air lines. I hear conflicting stories from all the instructors. Some like truck stops some don't.

I'd listen to chinatown, if I was you, Melton truck lines, will hire with little to no experience, The starting pay is around 35 CPM, not to bad for some one just starting, they got great bennefit, and additional pay for trapping, and other thing, stick with, put it behind you and stay safe

I like truck stops. You'll find some you really like and look forward to some down time there. There's a thread on here about truckstops. The Petro's used to be my favorite until they shut down the Oriental Spas. Little America on I-80 on the Western end of WY has some good food and delicious buffalo burgers; that's something I always looked forward to.

Do you guys need a calculator? I used 70mph as an average which I stated. In Nebraska most go 80 in the interatate, but I just used that for easy math. I said it was roughly $25/hr. .34 X 70 = $23.80. I was close. 23.80 X 70 hrs/= $1666wk X 50 weeks is $83,300. I said 65 which with subtracting down time, adding safety and fuel bonuses is spot on. Or if you want to say 4000 miles a week that's 1360/wk. That's 68,000 a year.

And no I am not a recruiter. And as far as the bookkeeping comment goes, I manage three farms and a trucking company. I don't have any problems with paperwork.

Well Cat daddy if you knew anything about trucking you would know most of the companies who hire rookies don't have 70 mile an hour trucks, and to average 70mph you need to be doing 75 to 80, and most of those companies you don't even hit your 70 on a weekly basis. So go back to the drawing board and do some realistic numbers. DO YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING?

    4000 miles a week averages 57MPH. That's 68K if you work 50 weeks a year.

LOL 4,000 miles a week. Dude what outlaw company hired you. Because you really don't have a clue sir.

You also never budget or do estimations off the Top you do them based on the medium or middle, and In trucking you probably should do it on the least.

Most are getting .30 cpm Most only get 2500 a week and they drive trucks governed at 60 to 63.

You have time on line 4 on duty not driving. Fueling, docking, pre trips, post trips. etc. That's a good 5 hours off the 70.

You have time in the shop, you have home time, you have loads with 2 much time on them.

You are talking about rookies who can't trip plan and manage time and you really think they are going to do that. Stop filling people's head with delusions of grandeur. Now if you didn't have E logs, and a rookie who had his head on straight, and with the right company. 40 to 45 depending on how much home time they took could be attainable. So please Mr. Giddyup I did see something about you ran a farm. Not sure if you ran a farm into the ground with your way of running numbers.

Anyway I got freight to move in a few hours. No time to play with you. Maybe I'll do so when I'm home later on today. Until then. Smell what the rock is cooking. :biggrin_25526:

    Good day :)

Not sure what kind of trucking company you operate. It would be interesting to know but no matter. If you operated a trucking company budgeting with those numbers you posted you would be broke in a month. Whenever I put bad info out there I try to apologize to the board. No big deal really....it happens I guess. There is no point in you trying to defend it. The more you defend it the more folks will see you don't know what you're talking about. Might even want to consider removing the "4 yr trucker" status from your profile...not sure where you trucked for 4 yrs t get those numbers.

    $65,000 / .34 = 191,176 miles in a year.
