After hearing the things I heard from recruiters at Central Refrigerated and deciding against them after taking a trip to West Valley City,UT and seeing things for myself and after a brief relationship with JBS Carriers recently that turned out to be more smoke and mirrors than reality, this could be a step up and in the right direction for me. If I've learned anything,it's that there are good and bad points about any company depending on each personal situation. I do thank you for voicing your opinion, though.

TransAm isn't the best and it isn't the worst, GrizzlyAlan. They accept student drivers, give you a starting point to learn and experience to move on to something better. It is true that some dispatchers can be a major pain and totally lacking in common sense. However, one of the good things about TransAm is that, to my knowledge, they have never questioned it if a driver says they can not safely continue driving.
GrizzlyAlan Thanks this. -
while I cant disagree with transam being not a great company
there is always something wrong with these kind of posts
Transam actually has no control over if you drive to the bus station or not
only your elog does that as with most companies
Transam also doesn't run team freight
so codriver would be a student or you were driving teams and dispatched as a solo driver
Transam is as good a place to get experience and move on as any starter company
just don't lease it is a recipe for failure
particularly for those new to trucking
and for people with experience why would they consider ANY starter companyHometimeQueen and GrizzlyAlan Thank this. -
As much as I detested TA, they did get me by the house to say good by to my dad when he was dying and for the funeral. Course, they then turned around and screwed that up, when they called me on the day of his funeral, to ask me if I would be interested in leasing. Needless to say, after a few choice words on my part, I was NEVER again asked to lease!!!HometimeQueen and GrizzlyAlan Thank this.

I'm still battling APU problems in Olathe. But I did get my truck washed today and they did a GREAT job. I'm so happy!
oliver2 Thanks this. -
APUs are great but I spent 2 days at a terminal because it needed a major tear-down for an oil leak. An oil leak that had been reported when it was minor on DVIRs and QC several times but the decision was made to wait on repairing it because it was less than 200 hrs. from scheduled servicing.

I hope they get it fixed for you soon. There were only two places that the King liked for them to work on the APU .....the yard in Olathe and ThermoKing in Springfield.
It is a beautiful but windy day in southwest Missouri ....but I am on my way to the mall with two teenagers. ....Somebody shoot me now
oliver2 Thanks this. -
there is always a lot of gun activity in that end of MO isn't there
you should just disown teenage girls until after they elope
and there is a grand to spoil
