50 ftlb is all that is required. Next time you remove the plug it will be tighter anyway as the steel plug reacts with the aluminum thread and the rest is history.
Great. Oil pan threads came out with the plug.

This is the exact plug i have on my truck, the only thing i worry about is a branch or something hitting it off road so use mechanics wire to secure it closed, works great when servicing the engine too.

On my dad's 07 KW dump truck something did hit and pop it open, he lost about 3 gallons of oil before it got noticed. Wiring them shut is sure a good idea especially if you're runing off road at all

Hey all,
I noticed you discussing the Fumoto oil drain valve and since I'm new on this site I thought I'd chime in on something I'm familiar with (I work at Fumoto Engineering). Fumoto suggests that if you are doing some offroading or work in extreme conditions (farming, logging etc.) that you put a lever clip on the valve. A lever clip firmly secures the lever in a in the locked position at all times and prevents accidental openings. Hope this was helpful.Licensed to kill and Heavyd Thank this.
