I was hired on by Indian River Transport in 2009. I went
on Greyhound from Tulsa, Ok. to Winter Haven, Fl. for
orientation. After orientation, I got my first load on a Fri.
at 1600 to deliver in New Jersey on Sun. Around 2100
I had a 4 wheeler pull next to me & point at my trailer.
I pulled over, got out, & saw the back inside tire on my
trailer on fire. I got my fire extinguisher out & put it out.
i called IRT & told them what happened & they said they
would send TA out to fix the tire. When it was fixed they
said to bring the load back that I had been terminated.
I asked what for & they said I was driving with the brake
on. Yet only 1 tire had any damage. I had to pay my way
back to Tulsa. Don't waste your time with this company!
Indian River Transport - Tulsa OK, a very bad co.

fair enough. Sorry for your bad experience.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

I run into their drivers every time I'm at a tank wash. Have yet to meet one that likes their job. The biggest grip I hear from them is IR does not pay detention and sometimes they're sitting 24 hours or more waiting to get unloaded.

Kerryokie, are you still doing tanker ?

Needs a little more detail.... Was "driving with the brake on" a result of going down the road with the parking or handle brake engaged? Or something that could have been prevented by doing a pretrip and fixing the problem, like a severely out of adjustment brake, defective return springs(resulting in dragging shoes)?

Come on. Give us the rest of the story??????????truckinmike1984 Thanks this.

o.k, i drive for irt, and you mean to tell me your driving down the road with the tire on fire and you didnt notice it? i would have fired you too. irt fired you based on the information given to them by t/a. if you cant see smoke and flames on your trailer, your not only a hazard to yourself, but a hazard to everyone around you. good riddance.
Bigdrmz, Leftnut, Deadhead75 and 7 others Thank this. -
Love it. So true!
