Check Melton Truck Lines website for used trucks; theirs also have APU's.
Sometimes Maverick has some good deals on used trucks and they also have APU's.

Friend of mine bought a Prostar from Knight, 10spd with an ISX, he is quite happy with it. Paid about $69,000 for it, think it has somewhere between 400-500,000 miles.

Had a mechanic go with him, said they looked at over 50 trucks before the settled on this one. Good Luck!

    TransAm has nice used trucks.

Schneider has a used truck lot in Atlanta.

I wouldn't get in a rush to buy, take your time, do your home work and research the drive trains that you're interested in. Keep in mind what you plan to haul and get a truck that can handle it. Make a list of what you feel like you have to have. I'd suggest trying to get a truck with an APU or allow in the budget to add it on. Some dealers will install it at a reduced price if the sale hinges on it. Keep in mind there is a tax break/rebate for having one. It'll save you a lot of money in fuel and wear and tear on the engine. Most trucks idle through 1 gallon of fuel or more per hour. Some truck repair shops have trucks that they sell when the owners can't pay the bill, check into that. While it's sad someone lost their truck it might be a great deal for you.
While there are junk trucks at every auction, you can get some excellent buys IF you know what to look for and how to protect yourself. Personally I would suggest looking at the trucks at auctions in your area and have a certified/trusted mechanic look at the truck, take an oil sample. Be sure you understand that you'll be paying them for their expertise and the extra set of eyes. Don't use a friend unless you're willing to loose a friend if something goes wrong after you buy the truck. Get the VIN and call the dealer, explain that you are looking at the truck and would like to know what if any work was done at the dealer. In most instances you can figure out who owned the truck even though the signs, MC and DOT numbers will be removed sun fade will outline them in many cases so you can see what the numbers were and look the company/previous owner up. Some companies/previous owners will share maintenance information with you some won't. Anytime you buy used in most cases it's "as is where is" unless the dealer offers a warranty, be sure to read it and ask questions if you have any questions. Driving habits, idle time and other variables will have an effect on fuel mileage. Getting a truck for between $40-60K with 500K miles is going to be very difficult unless you're just in the right place at the right time. Most of the major carriers sell or trade their equipment just before it's time to start spending money on repairs which is around 500-900K miles. Just DON'T get a case of buyer fever and make a rash decision you'll be paying for over the next 3 to 5 years.
