How to get financing?

What state do you live in? Georgia pays for CDL school through the Hope Grant with lottery proceeds. North Carolina, Goodwill Industries pays for CDL school.

Southern Refrigerated Transport has their own CDL school if you agree to work there a year. They send you a bus ticket to Texarkana, AR plus provide a hotel room and 3 meals a day. This route you can save your VA program for later use.

Each state has the WIA program that pays for CDL school. Lots of paperwork & the unemployment office should be able to get you started. Google WIA for your state.

In Florida the unemployment office pays for the bulk of tuition for private CDL school.

 

Get a better cosigner, or go to a carrier's school and sign a one year contract. In reality, the megas that will hire you with under a years experience are all the same, so you might as well stick with the same one to get that year under your belt, if that is your plan. There are many companies that own their own schools that do this.

 

Prime Inc. is one of them. They also send a bus ticket and front some food money and have lodging. You need $100.00 processing fee.

Either route you take, try to take some extra microwave food such as Ramen Noodles, instant coffee, etc. cheap at Walmart or Dollar General. Microwave use is free at CDL schools, hotel, truck stops.

 

http://studentaid.ed.gov/ This is how I got my students loan and very low interest rate.If you couldn't pay the required amount all you had to do was call them.They work with the students.But you may need some kind of money coming in to be eligible for it.I was collecting unemployment.

 

As Chinatown stated WIA is great program that covers the cost to obtain a CDL!

 

Just started this process today in Missouri.

 

Short of my physical and drug screen. SNAP paid for it all. Im unemployed and have used just about every cent i got getting this going. Im 3 weeks in so far and going strong. Check to see if some schools will help if you have food stamps
