One year, my husband was driving the 2007 WS down highway 63 just before Grassland, roads were really slick. Only 4 days prior, we had a roo bar 3 1/2" put on.
In an instant, this large elk was in front of his truck and he hit it. Not only did he hit it, he carried it for a solid 5-10 seconds. With traffic behind him and in coming in the opposite direction, and road conditions, he did not brake.
A couple of km's down the road he went to a pullout to see what damage had occurred. And to our delight, a slight bend in the two middle bars, and the "W" was knocked off the top of the truck hood.
If this incident had happened a week prior, im sure we would have had considerable down time. Frontier Peterbilt (now Cervus equipment) provided two new bars to replace the two bent ones free of charge. Normally, it would have been $300.
I'm not sure if the impact would survive a moose, but i've stuck with Herd. (Although the Volvo I just bought had a Magnum bumper on it already installed), I will always put a bull bar on my trucks. The one shown on this truck is their 4", which I do find really heavy to lift, and might think its an overkill, but time will tell if I ever do come head on with a Moose. -
My favourite look so far is the 4" Super Road Train model. I'll be getting it for sure, just maybe without the lower rake portion for the off road purposes. As I mentioned before, my buddy with Road Train 3" version took 2 big elk out with one hit, as he was going downhill loaded around Elk Point. With only a tiny dent left on his lower rake bar, that's it.

Sask. Gov, Insurance have $0 deductible when you hit wildlife. Then again, how much damage will a gopher cause.

I've seen the results of moose hits with those bumpers, the bumper and hood were smashed bad but the trucks stayed in service. I like the magnum brand, not as strong around the headlights but they don't block the headlights as much as the other brands.

Thats actually a nice looking truck!
