My driver trainer picked up a load while I was asleep, he didn't weigh the load because he said if was under 35,000 pounds. It was 32,000. Then he has me takeover in the morning. The first scale I hit, the weight is off. Eventually I get a ticket for $2,100. Is it his fault that he gave me a truck with too much weight on the rear axle being that I'm still a student? Do we both share blame? They said I'd get no CSS points or something. How screwed up could my CDL be with this citation? Thanks a lot.

    waveform Thanks this.

He's the so-called trainer; he made the call not to weigh the load.

He signed the bills and accepted the load, not you!

Do you get a weigh ticket with each load you pick up? I know he didn't weigh the load at Flying J or wherever.

All you get is the Bill Of Lading that has an approximate weight. Doesn't mean a thing; those BOL's are notorious for showing less weight than is actually loaded on the trailer.

    Go-Go and Cetane+ Thank this.

I already signed the ticket. The cops at weigh station said I was to blame because I was driving. But we weren't running legitimate team. It was a trainer/trainee situation.

So since he signed the BOL he's responsible for the load?

Technically, they are right. Now if the company hammers you , you will have to defend yourself and fight it. Too many trainers are abusing the trainees and getting away with it, especially Werner and CR England.

I am Not your trainer. Circus train Monkeys. Make it happen, or live another life. You are. I can teach you to drive. I can't teach you to respect.

Were you able to get the axle weight right at the scales? If not, then refuse to drive the truck and let the trainer do his job by making the truck legal.

I would also ask your company for a new trainer asap! What he did was not only unprofessional but he threw you under the bus...er truck!! It would have been easier (and required of him) during each major evolution such as picking up and delivery to have waken you. Im sure that if you were awake you would have questioned him on weighing the load. Gosh Bro, $2100? thats a lot on you and you didnt make the mistake.....smh

And how convient was it that he decided to change drivers right before the weigh station? :smt017
