We will be packing this weekend, have to hold off on some until Monday due to a big birthday party for our youngest tomorrow  He better tell them to let me know things in case LOL :p

He wants me to do something like you do with the notes as well, it's a really great idea! Will take a long time to get anything close to your records lol :p
Just means he is going to have to tell me things lol.

They still won't tell you much even with his ok, especially night/weekend dispatch. They aren't going to make the effort to check the records for his ok,but they will tell you that he is alright and has reached his destination. They will also relay a message to him if necessary. It won't be long until he will know the places that don't have good reception and he will call before he gets in there.

My observation from reading what some of the other new drivers have said is that learning to manage the elog system properly is an issue....so take notes at orientation.... it is critical to your bottom line. Read the book before you need it. Don't be afraid to edit if needed. Your time is your money.

Having a notebook has helped us so many times, my only regret is that I didn't start putting in on the computer and online until after the King had left TransAm. We all could have been helping one another so much sooner.

For the blog... the shipper is Flowers Snack per load info but all signs say Laurel Grocery. Its in London, KY. From 75, take exit 38 and go east. If you're going to the main warehouse, it will be down about 9 lights and then be on the right. Most likely youre going to the other warehouse though for dollar store loads, so at that last light, make a right on Wilderness Rd/ Barbourville Rd and completely ignore any GPSes that are screaming about a restricted route. About 3/4 a mile down the road you turn right on a driveway and will see a sign for Laurel Grocery warehouse 2. Directly across the street on your left before you turn is a Logans Car Wash. Very nice people who are used to drivers getting lost and being late. Absolutely do not follow any GPS directions once you get off 75 and head east!!!!!!!! And if you do get lost, stop and slide your tandems all the way forward until you get un-lost and you can thank me later.

Not strictly "trucking" related but if you did not know, McDonald's will be offering free coffee for the next two weeks. A lot of McDonald's at truck stops, it is how I often started my trucking day, so here it is:

"The world's biggest hamburger chain announced Friday that participating U.S. locations will offer small cups of McCafe coffee (12 fl oz cup) at no charge during breakfast hours from March 31 through April 13"

Hello everyone! It is a beautiful day in southwest Missouri today. Sadly, the trailer load of gourmet chocolate is on it's way to Texas..and no samples for the Queen!
I have been thinking ....dangerous, I know ....but what are your best tips for managing the elogs? I know passport has put some tips on here in reply to krazyhorse chick ....but maybe I need to pick your brains and put a new page on the blog. (By the way, thank you honeybadger...I did copy your post and put it on the blog.) Learning what you can and can not do with the elogs to maximize your available hours is essential to success. I think like many things with TransAm they just cover the most very basic of information and let you learn the rest on your own.
I am still gathering weather information for the week ahead and will post it as available. There is the potential for some stormy weather in the southwest and ....I know you will love this ...up to 4 inches of snow in the upper midwest around Tuesday.
Pete, were you in Cali when the earthquake hit?
krazyhorsechick, you need to check in so that we know you are ok.
    jaso, are you still training?
Leaderone1 and gamma, lots of good wishes to you both as you start with TransAm this week.
oliver2, I am so glad that you and George had a nice time while you were both off work.

George and I had an emotional visit.
    It wasn't the greatest.
Oh well, some days are good, and others not so good.
I'm tired of the trucking business!:biggrin_2557:
