"$0.26 /mile" is WAY BETTER then what Covenant pays THEIR Newbies!! They get $0.125 /mile and MOST teams start at $0.175 /mile EACH!!! I know because after having been in college for 3 yrs THAT is where I had to go to "re-start" driving! And one of the drivers I drove with, a girl that looked like a country bumpkin - SHE died "5 weeks" after getting OFF the truck with me. She dropped her truck, with her "current" co-driver, December 9th, 2011 in Ottawa, Ill & according to the Covenant cover up she hit 'black ice' BUT according to the State Trooper reports - Undetermined causes!! (look her up on the web)
Werner BEST for Newbies!

I see a lot of Werner day cabs, is that something you get rewarded with after OTR time? Never would go to work for them but something for people who really want to be home every night to consider
-
I found it. Very sad stuff.

Werner is good for new drivers.. they have a lot of different accounts.. I got on a dedicated.. I think with werner that is the way to go.. OTR is low pay and to much waiting between loads, especially for a solo driver.. the loads are going to go to the teams, trainers with students, then to the solo drivers.. getting on an account you can learn the account, build a good relationship with your fleet manager and get a better pay day.. the cpm is better on accounts too.. I startedat .34cpm
I got a decent but older Peterbilt, it is coming up on 500000 miles so they will retire it.. sell it.. and I will be getting a new truck.. I talmed to them and am thinking I would like to try the Kenworth... as I have never driven one, but I have driven Peterbilts, freightliners and even the volvos back when I was in school..
There are experienced drivers at werner.. and not just trainers.. so, it appears werner works for some and they stay..
But I am happy here now.. I am getting good experience and good pay...The Challenger Thanks this. -
Werner sucks. Good pay, no such thing with that company.
-
I take it you drove for Werner?
-
Yup, tried two accounts. Got laughed at by dispatch, treated like crap. I'm a truthful person the trainers were cool good guys but that's about the best thing I can say about them. Did dedicated dollar tree out of Windsor locks and 3 weeks out 3 days home after getting fed up with all the lies and bull. Oh did I mention I never made over 400 dollars in a week. That's just the quick tip of the ice berg.BigBluePeter and pattyj Thank this. -
RodgerThat72... I get that werner did not work for you..
But, there are other drivers who are happy at werner and making more than $400 a week..
I have not had bad experiences with dispatch... such as being laughed at.. yes, there has been the occasional annoyances with night dispatch... but, there have been times too when nignt dispatch really came througb for me..
Contrary to popular belief.. or I should say, there is a rampant misunderstanding that good people skills are not required to be a truck driver... well, maybe one can get a CDL and a job without them... but drivers with people skills do fair better.. we do not have all the problems, trials and tribulations with dispatchers, shippers, recievers, lumbers and such...
Werner wasnt right for you... then move on... you ex werner whiners are annoying.. it is like those people who stalk their ex and bad mouth... grow up and move on... -
I have moved on you can read my thread about how well in doing. You put your two cents up and I put mine. Good luck!
-
I am glad you are doing good.. I want that for every driver... there is no one si gle company that works for every driver.... has there not ever been a driver who quit the company you are with now... there has never been an unhappy driver at your company...
If you wre at a truck stop fueling, taking in the sun and basking in the bliss and success you are having with your company.. and a driver who worked them and wasnt happy and quit came up to you to tell you what a crappy company you drive for because he was unhappy there..
What would it matter.. would it make the success you are having not valid because he was unhappy there... would you start looking for a different company.. because clearly the happiness and success hou are having with your company is some fluke and will end soon.. it has to be a bad company if it didnt work for him rignt..
