its not a strike if everybody does not stick together, its more like a protest. people won't care, over just a few protesting truck drivers
and if the people don't complain about the trucking situation on the roads then what do you expect to happen. The only thing that every truck driver can and will do is to slow down traffic during rush ours. run side by side 40 mph leave the left lane open. this is peaceful, consertive and truck drivers that want support a strike like company drivers will have to follow the crowd.

You want a good strike, do what I do everyday STRIKE TO CHEAP FREIGHT and the best way to do that is to NOT HAUL IT NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!! I don't want the stupid fuel surcharge and trust me a handfull of truckers striking won't bring the fuel costs down! And btw, if you are striking because you can't afford fuel then how exactly are you paying for fuel to drive around and strike?

    iowabmw,

Why are you against the shutdown? I have to question your motivation.

You list your age as 27. I started driving in 1977 in a 1955 W22 White with a Super Mustang flathead gasoline engine. I bought my first truck in 1983. You weren't even out of diapers when things were good.

All the freight now is CHEAP FREIGHT.

I remember in 1985 a buck a mile was cheap freight. I don't think I ever ran for under 2 bucks back then.

1985 when a fully loaded 4 wheel drive pickup cost about $12,000

Fuel was about half a buck.

My base plate was under $1,000

My suburban house was about $65,000 now it is over $300,000

I could buy brand new 11R22.5 tires for $200

Shop labor rate was about 35 to 40 bucks an hour

I could buy a Mack Factory Rebuilt Engine for $6,200 and that was complete,,,,Injection pump, lines, air comp, water pump, turbo, valve covers, pan, and flywheel housing.

You weren't even around when things were good.
