I worked for Kelworth for a short while, about three months until I couldn't take running my butt off and not making any money. They say that they try to keep the deadheading to a minimum, and that is false. Some weeks I deadheaded more miles then I ran loaded miles. That would be fine if I got paid deadhead miles, but at the time that I was there, they did not pay on them. When you broke all of your miles out, both loaded and deadhead, I was averaging about .31 cpm. That is horrible, especially with dang near every load having to be tarped!! Heaven forbid you wanted to take home time as well, because then you would get crap loads that didn't pay much the week that you went home and the week you came back out. My advice would be to keep looking. If you absolutely need a job right now, take it, but keep your options open.

That's the problem with percentage pay! I've been there and done that and know the numbers inside and out. And yes 28-32 cpm ain't cutting it for flatbed. Hasta Laveesta Baby!
