Don't pay too much attention to those simulators. Unless they have changed they are nothing like driving a big truck. They were more used for getting used to shifting the 13spd. Other than that I found them useless. The first week sucks with all the classroom. The weekend and second week are much better. Pay attention to this weekend in load securement. He knows his stuff and is an awesome instructor.
I'm very new to the trucking game

Just keep in the back of your head that your trainer could have one of the new rigs with the 9 speed in it. Not much different than a 13, but still a change. Good luck on everything.

Beware of any companies that make or pressure training grads into lease purchase a truck immediately upon completion of that company's training program. Lease purchasing is nothing but a legalized scam. PERIOD. (Examples of companies that do that crap would be Transam and Prime inc. a personal friend of mine went through prime's tanker training program and they played that garbage on him. Of course the " Prime cheerleader squad" will try to tell you different, but they are not actual drivers. They are paid by prime to sit in their office and counter any complaints against prime. Also AVOID CR ENGLAND AND SWIFT LIKE THE PLAGUE.)
