It happened in Sacramento(Rio LInda) on elkhorn blvd near McCallen AFB. He told me I cant use elkhorn both directions, from 99 highway or from 80 ex elkhorn, but yet theres many 73ft trucks drive here everyday, how do I know? 'Cause I park here with other 25 trucks O/O's and theres trucking companies around these area with theird yard to park their trucks and repair shops. Unfortunately I cant avoid CA..
So you think theres no point to go to court and fight it? I think I read Bigranger Bob's posts where he said he beat 4 of those overlength tickets cause there was no sings, provided with pictures in court.

Otter needs to get in on this....He lives close to SAC and can find if Elkhorn is restricted to trucks....
I can't find anything that says it is on CalTran's site or District 3's site....

There does not need to be a sign. 65' is the overall length limit statewide. If you are longer than that, you have to stay on the national network (blue signs) except for picking up & delivering.

IL will get you too (I know firsthand). NJ will get you for being over 96" wide. Do you have a motor carrier atlas? This stuff is all listed in the first 15 pages...

The good news is over length tickets do not go on your record.

Except for pickup/delivery? not true. I asked him that question, he said I'd have to have 48 ft trailer or 53ft with daycab. Even if I had 48ft trailer its only 5 ft less which makes my total length 67-68. Probably that cop on bike failed at math or he just wouldn't care for extra 2-3 ft.

You know what interesting is when you exit antelope rd,I-80 W theres a restriction sign(NO TRUCKS over 40 ft long in 1.5 mile) when you make a right turn, but somehow they didn't put one on Elkhorn... which is next exit, after W/S.

I would take pictures and make a video of all the other trucks parked there and using that route and take it to Court and fight it.

They changed this a few years back when they jacked up the turnpike rates. Truck traffic on the backroads went up dramatically, so they basically made everything but the TP and Interstate off-limits to through interstate traffic.

    double yellow Thanks this.
