Anything out of Philly is usually cheap. IIRC, I couldn't afford to go from Philly to Nashville because I had a $2/mile minimum, and the rates on that lane were around $1.50/mile for dry van last year.
Edit: If I ended up dropping in Philly, I usually ran empty to Winchester, VA or Richmond to get my next load. Sometimes a hot load popped up in Baltimore or Newark, DE with a decent rate, but rarely.rollin coal Thanks this. -

yes, the i-81 corridor from northern va up to hazleton pa is typically better rates outbound.

yes contract freight out of the area pays in $2.25 + range
