I love to hear about the big guys boning up like this. It tends to clarify lots of things for me, like the load of bottled water I hauled last week for $5/loaded mile. I know there were hundreds of trucks empty near my pickup point, and I'm pretty sure it didn't have to be refrigerated either (put me within 200lb of gross since I have a reefer).
Keep up the stellar job, fellas. You're making our money for us. -
Too bad a quality, service minded o/o cannot drive more than one truck at a time! Otherwise he would be the most well respected, busy, loved, rich guy in the business. Your company is only as strong as your weakest link...sad that there's so many rusted out, newbie links out there flooding the market
BigBadBill and silver dollar Thank this. -
Told you a long time ago, booze helps. Remember, the driver is the "captain" of their ship. If they want to take a 10 hour break as soon as loaded then you just have to live with it. You'll learn to sweat the late afternoon PU's. The mysterious moving truck is always nice. It's 25 miles away then 250 miles away and then 100 miles past the delivery. They can't remember which lie to tell which broker.
After all these years last Friday we had our first "GPS" accident. Ten miles after loading(not on a truck route)they hit a 12' bridge. Of course they arrived late and were behind the eight ball to start.BigBadBill Thanks this. -
People like that give us all a bad name. Shame you couldn't refuse the load on the driver that was 20 hours late. But you get what you pay for. Cheep freight equals cheep service
Bigdubber, precisionpower and BigBadBill Thank this. -
Been in this a very long time and have yet to see this mythical correlation between rate and service. Like saying only poor people do bad things and rich people don't.BigBadBill, rollin coal, misterG and 5 others Thank this.

I believe it was a relay, that I was supposed to get?
Do you enjoy my attitude after such communication issues?
))
BigBadBill Thanks this. -
Why would you assume it was cheap? Actually, because it is a new lane and we are getting things established I was taking a loss on it and going to take a loss on the return load (it was a power only load).
-
Red, you and I got into this business around the same time and you know I am not exaggerating when I say that we haul 1,000's of loads a year. The rate of brokers that lie to us on the first load doesn't come close to the rate of drivers/carriers that lie to us on the first load.
I think these two parties deserve each other.RedForeman and king Q Thank this. -
You have to subscribe but not sure if a carrier can subscribe. But I understand that if something is posted you have a chance to dispute it and it isn't like DAC that they are just selling to the carriers and side with them. They really want it to be a reliable source of information. A single post won't keep me away from a carrier.
And I have taken you advice. I am becoming a connoisseur of whiskey.
And this just adds to my frustration. I have to make it right by you and others and the customer isn't paying for that.
