Hope there isn't a post like this....We had a truck brake down in California and the engine(DD15) is totally ruined. Does anybody know where we could purchase a used 2009 dd15 engine?
Also how do i( i'm probably the one thats going to have to make all the arrangements) go about getting the truck from California back to Florida? Do i just call a towing company or is there
specific companies that would do that? Thanks!

Might want to hire a drop deck rather than a tow truck if ya have to get it to fla cause a tow would charge you both ways cause he ain't gonna find a back haul maybe check the bone yard for a engine tto gotta be one around

First you need to know where you are going to get the engine swapped out. Check the truck paper, junk yards ect... dont limit your self just to the west coast you can have it shipped.

Wow ! That's rough......ok as a co. maint director or single owner here's what I'd do:

1 Repower load if loaded, put trailer in storage lot if empty or broker wagon home.
2 Verify engine is junk....calls, video, driver testimony etc..... even pay road call to local Freightliner dealer for a look see.
3 Use my driver to hire wrecker etc to get mule on step deck and broker home.

Points: My resources, trusted suppliers etc are all here. There's a very good chance I'm going to get porked trying to swap an engine from 3000 miles away . Brokering my iron home will look more expensive in the front but consider the alternative.........or you can call Freighliner for a reman installed.....it's worth a quote.

Last thing I would do is when this is over I would visit the business model. Is what I'm doing worth all the grey hair I just got???

Good luck and let us know how it turn out.....

The truck is in Ontario, CA. Our driver managed to burn up the whole engine(from the bottom all the way up) :/...it is in a mechanic shop. When talking to my boss the mechanic over there told him the it was just the head that was damaged...my boss flew there and took the engine apart and found out that it started all the way down from the bottom(he's a mechanic as well lol). The truck was just purchased 2009 freightliner Cascadia and and its now just sitting there. the driver is back in florida and now we're trying to figure out what to do....
