It also helps to be sure to put the doubles on the rear drive axle. Doubles on both drive axles is even better. Momentum is your friend for sure.

This is why I hated pulling sets with a tandem tractor, and won't do it anymore. I'd rather have 20k on one drive axle than two.
But, given the situation described, I'd say he did good.
What dog of a company had the gall to tell you this? -
All i've done for most of my career is pull doubles in New England. I have a tandem tractor I know thheyhow you feel. Just keep your speed as much as you can to maintain momentum for as long as you can. Don't be afraid of the inter-axle lock just be careful when you put it "in" that your not spinning a wheel. Dont listen to what they said about your exp. At least you can move the truck!!! lol That's more than they could accomplish.
