Your friend should have gotten off the truck. Obviously he felt safe enough to not only ride with a distracted driver but also go to sleep with a maniac behind the wheel. Luckily nobody was hurt.
What will happen to Averitt trainer that nearly got our friend killed? Pics

I worked for averitt for 2 months in 2006. Worst 2 months of my life. The year before I worked for them their trucks were involved in 7 fatalities.. during orientation I of the instructors was complaining that they were involved in another accident where a little girl was burned over 65% of her body and lived. He was complaining about her living because it would not have cost the company as much had she been killed in the wreck.
this was not hearsay.. I was present during the orientation class when he said it but dont remember the name. I have tried to blot those 2 months from my memory.wd40, paul_4lp and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
Ya'll are right, he should of gotten off that truck when he seen that the trainer was goofing around.

They need to be with company like mine Millis no running teams with students. Trainer on duty and in jump seat and just student drives. May help friend knowing truck not moving till they are behind the wheel. Sure not just our company does this but they need to find one that does because if truck moving and they are not at the wheel that is not training.

Your friend could probably get a settlement for life with the correct lawyer.

Where did this accident take place? Where was this UPS Truck parked? Good thing he didn't roll the truck over. There really should be some safety standard for our trucks for occupant protection.
