You guys are all getting bent out of shape over nothing. I just wanted to ask a general question and get reasonable answers for it. The first post I made indicated I was not interested in posting a company name on either position. The first two posts were not even close to answering the question I asked and indicated I should post the company name, which I said in my first post that I was not going to do.
I may not have oilfield experience but I am by no means an inexperienced truck driver or worker. I'm also not some 21 year old little punk kid just talking #### on the internet. I'm a man in his 30's who is in reasonably good shape and has plenty of experience but just not much recent trucking. I have been in another field for a decade. I'm also a home owner in San Antonio with a family who is looking to relocate and have already been considering the Midland/Odessa area. I am well aware of the housing prices up there so any housing I would be getting soon after start would be temporary before having a house built or purchasing something that fit us.

Have you ever worked in the oil field bud? It looks great in TV and yea the money's good if you got the right company. But keep in mind what goes up must come down. The boom is on but coming from a 4th generation roughneck, I can tell you it's good now but in 10 years they could be putting rigs in the grass. That's why I'm otr now. Yea I miss the work and yea I miss the fun but I'm steady pay checked now and know I'll have a job in 15 years if the government stays out of it. And I'm not Goin to burn you like the other guys but watch what you say out there. You talk to an old tool pusher or mud man like that, getting fired maybe the least of your worries. Not many small people in the oilfield.

Why you guys killing this guy he's just looking for an answer to his question and nothing more anyway go for option 1 if they pay detention time seems like an easy choice to me but remember its not going to last forever so i'd think before you buy a house there.

Just be aware that building is pretty slow, you wouldn't think so, but I've seen some houses that are still in states of "building" after the 8 month's we have been here.
But I've seen apartment's and hotel's done in less than 4 months.
