Howdy, all!

I found this site about a week ago when searching for information on getting my CDL and becoming a trucker. So far it has been pretty useful for gleaning info about what to expect when I get started down this path.

About me: I'm 33; for the last 7 years I've (bear with me now) dispatched ambulances for a private service. I decided that it wasn't getting me anywhere and I've always longed for the open road. So, I'm saving up my money for the next several months so I can get my CDL over the summer. I'll be going part-time at the ambulance service until I'm certain that I'm not going to be one of those people who get sent home from school because they can't back a trailer

Funny you mention that - I actually put in an application there earlier this week and I'm waiting on them to verify my employment . Millis is at the top of my list. If that falls through, I hadn't even considered the community schools. Thanks for your help! This is why I decided to become part of this forum!

 

Cool. I'll be in the June 9th class in Cartersville at Millis. I'm pretty excited and a touch nervous at the same time. What if I am one of those people that just "doesn't get it?"

Only time will tell. I do well enough (in terms of job performance) at the ambulance service to know that I adapt pretty quickly. Here's hoping!

Also, crc, let me know what class you'll be getting and how you are doing, as well.
