Any current prime drivers out there. Need a few questions answered please. I will have my full CDL in about 3wks. Got approved yesterday for Prime. Safety cleared and all that good stuff. Will go to MS sometime in May. I have more that 6yrs of former exp. Just now getting back it the seat after 10yrs of being gone. I guess my work history was ok and my DAC was ok. Knowing this info and based on your experience. How much training can I expect considering I just got my licence back from going back to school for a refresher cource.

I'm going to say you will be with a trainer for 40k miles. That's team miles so you get credit for all dispatched miles. Go to the prime section and read some of the threads slot of good info there.

    Fuffster Thanks this.

I had the same question as my situation is similar....I've been off the road for 6 years and it appears that we would have to do the whole 40,000 with Prime.....I guess some trainers will be happy with that, perhaps we can comlete the training in 6 weeks or so.....so now I'm wondering if I should even bother to spend $1700 out my pocket for a cdl refreshing course.....

I cramed for 4 days on the written test part. Went to DMV took the test for the first time since 1991 and passed. Im taking a refresher cource at Dootson here in cali. It's 721.00 for about a weeks worth of lessons. Just want to make sure I pass the driving part without any problems. So on that note it's worth it. For me anyway.

Thanks for the info Fuffster, I never did check with Dotson but that is definitely worth it.....what I ment was that Prime still requires a 1 year commitment or $3500 / $1750 after 6 months even if you have your cdl and have been off the road for more than 5 years.....but Gordon and Pride will only require 1-3 weeks with a trainer, depending on where your skills are at and no commitment if you have your cdl re-issue....I'm calling Dotson Monday morning, thanks again......
