When I was OTR there were more Fedex in the median than any other company.
And they do seem to ALWAYS be in QUITE a hurry......s36ryan and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
Here is an accident I wont ever forget. It was in 2008 & this FedEx truck rear-ended another 18 wheeler going "very slowly" because of mechanical trouble (probably a flat). This was at 8:22 am (day light).
The FedEx driver died on the scene & the co driver (I think was in the sleeper) died the next day of severe burns & trauma.

whenever I see a fed ex freight on the open highway I have no problem passing em. but get em in a reduced speed zone typically 55mph and I don't think they ever let off the go pedal. seen two of em racing on 294 north of Chicago one night
blairandgretchen and 6 Speed Thank this. -
The only Fedex drivers I've encountered not speeding are the O/O'S leased to Custom Critical. Everyone else speeds, Express, Freight, Ground (with Ground probably being the worst). I've been moseying along I80 between Williamsport PA and Snow Shoe at 68ish and been passed like I was standing still. I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of contractors who don't govern their trucks, it's a frequent occurrence in that neck of the woods.

So true. Now alot of these guys fly down the road UPs , RL , Estes. The only one ive ever seen going to slow and with others ABF.

I'm not defending FedEx freight drivers at all but anyone who has ever worked in LTL especially for a company that has there line haul drivers work dock and drive know how tired you get even more so than OTR drivers...As OTR drivers we can sleep the majority of the time while being loaded and unloaded... At FedEx and numerous other LTL companies the truck driver works the dock doing all the loading and unloading and then at some point he has to head back to home base... I worked in LTL doing this for 3 months and Im surprised I'm here to type this... Nothing worse than having to unload a 53 foot trailer full of 100-200 pound folding tables by hand all night and then when its done you go re-hook to another trailer and drive back 150-200 miles to your home terminal... We've all seen numerous LTL day cabs sleeping on ramps... They actually work the whole 14 believe that... Imagine working on a LTL dock for 8 hours in 100 degree weather then having to drive 150 miles at 4am after being up all night... Not fun...
As for everyone complaining that they speed get real... its not different than any other company out there... -
I'm a frequent flyer on 294 in the POV and Big truck, its a guarantee if your doing 55 you can bet every swift, prime, grandma, papa, and turtle are blowing your doors off... If the speed limit was 100 on 294 the norm would be 120... Everyone and there mama speeds on 294... ( including me ) -
E don't haul ### with doubles and triples. so u need to get a clue.

Excuse my ignorance . Not throwing any fedex driver under the bus or into one. I've never seen another company proudly put it on trailer, Except fedex.
lolMarksteven, 77smartin and blairandgretchen Thank this.
