I know this topic has been beat to death on here but all the threads end up turning into bragging wars and the question never gets answered.
I've got a shiny 290 that was built into a 400. It's a '77 so probably a BC1. 14.5:1 compression, cpl 324, really advanced timing, and whatever else that comes with it.
I know its getting just the right amount of fuel now because it burns clean even when i really step on it, which is great but i'd like the option of giving it more if i need it so.......
my question is what fuel button would give me a little more fuel without getting much hotter, im not looking to go crazy. And where can i get one for a good price?
I want to know from the old school guys who have experience with these and know what an ideal number would be given the current setup.
400 Cummins fuel button

Impossible to answer your question with the little dab of information you have given. We don't know what button you are running now for instance. Also there are about 25 different torque rise and fuel settings for the 324 cpl, about 40 different calibrations for the 676. Without an engine serial number that the engine was built to who is to say without seeing touching and feeling it.

what button do you have in it now

I'll take it out and look tomorrow. Do they have the number right on them?
