I did a no hassle first lesson with Dootson awhile back. They have some good trainers. But the catch to the class and why it's so cheap is that it's the minimum to get your CDL. What they don't tell you is that most companies won't hire you without any experience if you don't go to a school that offers 160 hours of training. Some companies require 240 hours of training. Not saying you won't get hired somewhere, because some of their students have been hired and I've read stories about how some of their students couldn't get hired anywhere, but it is harder without the 160 hours. Just thought I'd pass along the info I learned when I was researching Dootson. Good luck.

I'm attending their orientation tomorrow to include into my options, I had my CDL 6 years ago, 2 years verifiable experience with kllm, and now that I'm looking to get back out, this cheap solution might work out for me...... $48 a session and $265 to test at DMV in my case might be better than $1700 (cheapest I found) up to $5600 refresher course or worst, one year commitment to one of the training carriers, whom I have nothing against because at a worst case scenario, I will sign up with one or two of them. If you look at Schneider's website, they do list dootson as a school, I'm not saying that it's an approved school, nevertheless it is listed......good luck!

Just completed our first training class on Saturday! Lot's of fun. Looking forward to more training. Starting to narrow down the companies we want to start out with now.

It's going well. We just got back from out training this morning. I have the skills down pretty well. Only thing I'm having an issue with is the double clutching and getting the gear in the correct patch smoothly. I'm used to a car manual trans and its throwing me off. My fiance is complete opposite. Doing well on the shifting but needs more work with the skills portion.

BTW, I really like our trainer Ron. He is very good, and lets us fix our own mistakes without jumping in.

Fiance and I take our Hazmat test at DMV tomorrow morning. Then we have to head to Oxnard to get our finger prints. Already paid and did the paper work online. Another item soon to be checked off our list!
