First it hauling pretty small cars, secondly I would not be surprised if it had a 16,000 ft axle, doesn't change the gross, but it would give you so leeway on the combination, plus, it's a #### small cab with no sleeper, so I would assume it has to be lighter than even a day cab w/hood.

    Just my guess.

Small low cabovers are nothing new to Carhaul. Hadley Auto Transport used the C series back in the 60's and 70's. ATS used them hauling imports out of Long Beach up until they ceased operations around 2003.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 20K steer. Either way, doncha know those are some low-budget tires up there. :biggrin_2556:

20,000 lb steer with Michelin rubber. This type of truck is only mainly used in the Belvidere, IL terminal. But there are a few scattered around in others.

Our standard 10/11 car stingers are 14,000. Even tho most coops want to argue it.

I hear ya C, I was pulling on of our "mini" spreads 8' spread, and got the light to come in. Was no where near gross but was over 17,000 on the rear axle, SM asks if I can shift load as I am 17,500 on axle, I say, it should be ok with 18,000 per with the spread.

Just then another SM says that I should be good till 20,000 per with spread, I said well it is only an 8' spread not a 10'1 so it is only good to 18,000, then those two guys look at each other and start arguing, lol

I said, closed tandem 34,000 (4' spread) they agreed, I said 5' 35,000, 6; 36,000, so on and so forth, they let me go, but I still don't think they understood what I was saying, all they knew was 10'1" 20,000 per.

We had a lot of SM's reading the sidewall when we got the trucks with the 295/60's on the steer. I think they'd all got used to the old 275/70 number of 13,860#, and thought they'd caught ya up to no good.

I bet those tires on that thing are $1K per, or close to it.
