I myself had no experience when I got my cdl 7 months ago. I went for the water hauling with Nabors. It is a good company just depends on the yard. I haven't been making too much money here but have gained valuable experience. I got to network with drivers from other yards and companies. I know I can make more with other companies in the area, but I did like the way they promote safety. I am about to leave nabors to pursue Frac. Not to sure what the job entails, but it does pay better. I know frac does not involve a lot of driving though. So if driving is what you wanna do, then I would suggest water hauling, get about 1 to 2 years experience, then move into crude hauling.

Big Spring yard is a disaster. Seems to constantly be on the verge of closing.

Not so far. I get calls or have interviews that seem promising but go no where.

It's hard not to think leaving wasn't a mistake, but given the situation there the writing was on the wall. Once I was done with my training period, I would have had no hours. I was driving 2 hours each day to train in Snyder because they had no drivers in BS to train me. The few they had in BS were getting done at like 2pm. I was clocking a steady 14-16 a day.

I had no interest in sitting around in Big Spring on my butt in my trailer.

My big concern is that 2 months at a job looks real bad, but my steady work history before that should hopefully overcome that blip

Most likely he is hauling condensate in South Texas. You won't make that much hauling water or OBM.

So, I'm on the same bandwagon as many posters so far. Just finishing my driving school up, waiting for my license to be issued and perform some maintenance on my ride before i drive down from Washington (state). I've got tanker, and hazmat endorsements (x) plus doubles n triples.

I've seen lots of jobs from baker Hughes, and less from the other majors. I've read that frac is a petty cake gig, lots of waiting and babysitting your rig, so long is the ##### is the same and i get my experience in tankers sign me . Though, I'd be open to other driving positions, but i like consistency.

So aside from some apps on the books that I'd like to have as a go to i want to check it out in person and work my d2d magic. Anyone got some inside info on companies who can put a man to work in a hurry? Aside from a couple class b misdemeanors, I'm pretty clean on my record...criminal and driving...who counts parking tickets anyways haha. Also, i wouldn't mind one bit to work nights in the desert heat.

Aside from jobs, I'm wondering if anyone can share their experiences for living as i know the cost of housing gets steep in a boom town economy and duh I'm unemployed. Was thinking about buying a tent trailer down there but then id still have to find a place to park it. Just curious in general about anyone elders experience with loving down there...w Texas, s Texas, e NM whatevs.

If you don't bring a trailer better bring lube for w texas. S texas has far mote reasonable options if you don't i have a trailer. I would recomment.the trailer either way. You probably have a better less expensive selection where you are as well
