I really think with all these company's it is what you make it. There's bad and good with every company. Roehl has some cons just as I'm sure melton does. It's hard to listen too much to all the bad and wonder if it's just a lazy driver who's been late so many times that he's gotten fired... So ofcourse those types of guys will bad mouth a company. I've heard plenty of good things about melton from seemingly happy guys. Roehl is the same exact way, I hear some guys talk nothing but bad.. But I don't have anything bad to say other than my paychecks are on the lower end as I'm finding out that seems to be somewhat of a common issue. My FM is awesome, and he runs me nonstop great miles I haven't been late on any loads I don't ever complain, I stay out 3-5 weeks at a time just to make a little more money but ever since I've been here I haven't seen a check over 800. Id say that is my only negative comment about Roehl, on the same hand I know guys that make way less. But I know what I'm capable of and the type of work I do. That's why I was thinking flatbed may be the way to go

Flatbed is 2cpm more than van I believe. Tarp pay is 22lumber 11steel. Milage is decent. I was stuck in the Midwest a lot though. You'll take a load securement class and probably go with a local. Send a freeform over Qualcomm stating you want to switch from national van to national flat and see what your fleet manager has to say. I did that and was switched immediately, so there must have been an opening.

Actually, at Roehl, van is 32 cpm, curtain is 34 cpm and flatbed is 37 cpm. (I think) Roehl is up to almost 700 flatbed drivers now.

Brand new flat bedders are not making 37.

I was told flatbeds make 35..but that was 2 weeks ago. Oh wait, last Friday I was told that also.

Brand new flatbedded out of pa. Starting at 35cmp. Hopefully testing out today or tomorrow. Our week was pretty slow. Had lots of stops. It wasn't until yesterday that I got over 325 miles. However. I've been loving it. Getting out and doing some really, quite light labor, especially on these nicer days we've been having.
