After I drop a load, and not sure when my next load is. I will sleep for 6 to 7 hours during my 10. After that 10 he point I try to stay up for 5 hours sleep for 5 hours so on. Even if I can't sleep I will shut every thing off and lay in the bunk with my eyes close. Even tho I might not be asleep I will be resting. Now if I am driving and get tired and I need to sleep, I will pull off and sleep for a hour or two.
Stay away from enters shooters and drinks. That stuff is so bad for you it's not even funny. I just drink ice cold water.

    Steeleandsonfarms and cnsper Thank this.

I do it the old fashioned way ....I get all pilled up and put on them old trucking songs and get the job done !!!!

For those of you that don't know what pilled up means...... well just ask your safety man LOL

For those of you that are have stopped reading so you can tell me what a horrible person I am and that I should stop before I run over soft little bunnies and scare all the hippies And that I am a baby killer ......

I WAS JOKING EVERYONE !!!! WE ALL KNOW THAT IT IS AGAINST THE LAW !!!

But back in the day ...............

The food service, food shippers and grocery warehouses cause the bulk of these issues with appointments and DDT times often ranging from 22:00 to 05:00, and some require to you to spot a trailer by 12:00 and it will be ready by 23:00 and needs to move by 23:59 to make the 10:00 del appt 850 miles away 2 days later with time to get a break in before within about 100 miles or less to be ready for the pre-plan. It's part of that trucking life but that doesn't mean I have to like it or desire to run like that all the time.

Most of us guys who used to run hard remember, tall coffee black, and instant coffee drink and put instant coffee in your mouth and let it sit then drink more coffee.

the worst for me was trying to beat a snow storm across Iowa had my left arm tied to the air horn hand fell off the steering wheel it's blow the horn.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Always just bite the bullet, get some good tunes rolling, maybe a couple no-doses every few hours and lots of water. Then when the load gets to the dock and you're empty, throw a no-call message and get the best 10 hours of sleep that is humanly possible. Seriously, when you throw hot freight and get it there safely and on time, combined with the exhaustion of doing it, the sleep you get from going through that is the best, ever!

Plus your dispatches and planners see you can throw freight, which is always a good thing.
