Politics? WTF ? I've heard drivers of all political affiliation ##### about the profits oil companies were getting when fuel prices were jacked way up. If you're trying to avoid wasting fuel that's one thing, don't expect sympathy from me when you're running the least fuel efficient configuration you can find and not even attempting to improve your operating economy. It's not a political issue, it's an economic one. And it does affect us all economically, not politically.

Wow... I still cant wrap my mind around grown men needing to idle the truck to be gently rocked to sleep... so, are you in a bunk back there or a crib?

Now when ever I see a truck idling all night I can just imagie the big bad trucker in his onsey, hugging his teddy bear, sucking his thumb or binkie sleeping soundly..

I actually thought it would be the rookies who idled more because they were new and hadn't toughened up yet or hadnt learned how to compensate... like using a heavier blanket for warmth or a fan for cooling...

I totally agree that for many it is because they dont pay for the fuel they burn... but, for me, even though now I am a company driver I am using this time to become a better and more efficient driver for when I do become an O/O... also, by doing so, I can get a better idea of what being an O/O will cost and entail for me... because obviously if I am not an efficient driver or do not take care of my equipment it will be more cosly to be an O/O..

So, even though I am only a company driver now.. I am training and developing myself to be an O/O one day, and so now is the time to figure out where I can cut fuel cost.. it may benefit my company right now.. but it benefits me in tne long run... so who ever said they idle for spite because they are not making money so they are going to waste company profits... why do that.. why not become an O/O.. or move to a better company.. seems the only reason you would be stuck driving for a company that causes such spite in you is because hou cant move upward.. maybe causeyou have a bad driving record.. there is always opportunities for good drivers.. so good driver would not stay in a position where they have to idle out of spite..

I drive a buddies truck and his exact words were,I'm not going to be hot or cold on the road and don't expect you to be either." With that being said I try to minimize my idle time but I'm going to be comfortable. I also look for the cheapest fuel prices. Why fuel at a major TS Petro,TA,Love FJ Pilot when it's .10-.15 cheaper at the smaller Mom&Pop stations. I average 6.5-7.5 mpg depending on the load. Boss is happy and I am comfortable.

Well, as see it, it's nobodies business except for the person who is idling, fuel prices are what they are and no matter if one does or doesn't idle fuel prices are still going to go up. I don't need no meat head moron knocking on my door because I want to idle. Next thing you know you tree huggers are going to make us carry recycling bins on our trucks to separate our garbage.

you want to do us all a favor? Ok how bout mind your own business and let me mind mine, if I walk by a garbage can and a recycle bin next to each other and I throw my plastic water bottles in the trash can so be it, you have issue with it then don't cry, or tell me about it, go fetch it out of the garbage and put it in the recycle bin.

How about this you want to cry about me idling or not then you pay for my idle air, or shore power when I park for the night, and I'll let you talk all night long about why I shouldn't idle. So either put up or shut up, you pay my bills then you can tell me what, and how to do things.

as long as I do my job safely and make it home safely, then you should be able to make it home safely too. I am not out here to impress anyone just do my job safely and go home, everything else is pointless and a waste of my time.

Go push your views, and beliefs on your kids, as most of us will not agree to your views and or beliefs. As your view and belief is no more important than mine. But they are equally adhere to by each of us. I have enough people, gooberment etc...sticking their noses in my business.

    That may be.

But here on our forum we don't allow political statements outside of the "Politics" section.

This is the last warning about that. Next time the thread gets closed.

    Are we clear on that?
