So I finished up yesterday, and now im headed to ga to pick up a truck. Got all my gear, I will say wait until your assigned a truck to get your stuff, it was almost 200 bucks for locks, stamps and a pulp thermometer. You pay for it either way butif you dont want to pay out of pocket, you can charge to your truck once assigned one. Other then that, get in on a friday if possible, do your smith and sim lab Saturday morning, and have wally set up your cbts. It pays to have a laptop as you can do them in your room while everyone else is stuck doing nothing the rest of the weekend.

You need to check with your company-side FM if you are going to charge stuff to your truck... and how it will be repaid. Don't just assume that this is good to go, and head to the company store.

I paid cash. Once you are assigned a truck, your initial equipment is charged to it. Anything else, yes you must have permission. And thats just for the company side.

But why pay cash when everything that you bought can be charged to your truck once you are assigned one on the company side. you said you got all your gear but did you really get it all?

    Load Locks
Tire Chains ( it is not May 1st yet so they must be on the truck)
    Jumper cables
    Trip sheets
    comchecks
    extra seals

Yep everything but chains, im not worried over 6 days. And I had to go to ga to recover this truck. So they had not assigned it to me until we saw what kind of shape it's in. You pay for it either way correct?

Yep, you did the right thing, I always try to run a cash business plan. That way there is no surprises. Also while you may think you don't need chains after 1 may, If you come out this way, Ca, NV, OR WA MO, we will get snow after that alot of the time, and you will not be allowed over the passes at times without them, ALso Vail. So you may want to bite the bullet and get them. You are probably thinking, well I can always just sit and wait it out, but sometimes these storms come on so fast that it was 50 degree's and clear outside 1 hour ago, and then it is a blizzzard with no place to stop other than the chain up area's and you can only chain up in them. Word to the wise.

Chains... cables break after one use usually. Autosocks will cover the bill, but you can't run them for any distance especially on pavement or ice without shredding them. The prices at the terminal are about as good as you'll get anywhere... Colorado minimum is enough to do your outside drives... 4 of 'em. You can get them at PRIPIT, PRIME, CHDSLC and RTCDEN. Don't forget short bungies to tighten 'em up. BTW... you have to carry chains on I70 from Morrison to Glenwood until May 31st, and CSP will ticket you after 24 hours. There isn't any "waiting it out" anymore in Colorado.

Copy that. Ill have to grab chains when I get by one of the yards. If I charge them to the truck do they spread the amount out over a couple weeks? Im trying not to touch my savings.
