It isn't the case that 25%, or even 5% of Gordon's drivers have bailed. And the Gordon fleet has grown since the acquisition, with GTI drivers.
Absolutely false about idle policy of 85°. 72° is the guideline.
Not true that Heartland will not do APU's. Buying a few hundred new GTI trucks now (beyond the previous order of 400 new trucks that has been discussed) that are equipped with APU. Not sure what will come out years down the road, but you can't talk in absolutes like 'they will never'. People said the same things about inverters, 'they will never', and now all the Heartland trucks have 1500W inverters installed.
Funny how all the facts get all smashed up and left unrecognizable.zmpart Thanks this. -
Welcome back HOAT. I don't know except from what I hear, and I try not to hear too much. Here's what I know: I drive a beautiful Kenworth, I make over $1,000 a week, usually closer to $1500, I have an APU and inverter, and I'm a happy guy. I also know that when I need service to my truck, it doesn't take a miracle to get it done, I don't have to light candles and sacrifice virgins for it either. I do know that. I also know (and you can bring this up to GTI) that when I turn on my AC, it works, and that in the rare event that I do have an issue (Paccar Motors FTW) that if I point that problem out, nobody will look at me like I'm retarded and have no clue what I'm talking about. That said, I hope all is well in the world of Heartland & GTI, and I'll wave at everyone I pass.

Joe, having been in the business for 20 years (working on 40) and very aware of the challenges facing our industry, I am very happy to see an experienced, safe driver who is being successful and believing in the future of trucking. I am pulling for your success believe it or not. Even though we're not at the same company, hopefully we are on the same (trucking) team in some way.
zmpart Thanks this. -
I support this industry except for some of the cretins who tend to temporarily inhabit it. You know the ones I'm talking about. And it's not just "the newer generation" as some of those cretins like to point out. I can say with certainty I will never be back at GTI or Heartland. Not my style. But here's to their success. Not my cup of tea, but I'm certainly not hoping for the demise. After all, the combined company does employ a few thousand people. Here's also hoping you keep what was good about GTI and dump the bad.HeartofaTrucker Thanks this.

One should never have to hear "the way to get it fixed" from a remote DM on his way out the door or figure out "the way to get it fixed" on his own or wonder why it wasn't fixed right the first time or complain to a Fleet Manager about getting more miles because he wasn't on the Midwest Regional group. I had to do all of those in my suspension-shortened 7 weeks with Gordon. No matter what the cheerleaders have to say, Gordon/Heartland had and has problems. The first step to fixing them is acknowledging that the buy-out did, in fact, cause problems and will continue to do so.
And just wait until the FMCSA requires Gordon to turn in its authority and take their name off the trucks. As one who spent 27 years with a USDOT regulatory agency, I can tell you it's coming. Then "Gordon" really will be a historical reference, not an employer.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
This isn't something that the FMCSA would require based on an ownership change. There are many many examples of multiple companies out there running separately under the same ownership. Quick example that comes to mind is Shaffer owned by Crete.joseph1135 Thanks this.

To tell you guys the truth , i dont care what gordon/heartland does or is going to do. I dont care what name is on their trucks, what color they are nor what kind of accessories they do or dont have.
Thanks to the buyout i have found a far better place.
I have been off recovering from this surgery for a week now with probably another week to go and nobody hastling me wanting to know when i am coming back making me feel my job is in jeopardy.
And guess what, my truck is still sitting at the yard with all my gear in it and nobody removing it to give it to someone else.
That would not have happened at gti or heartland... i would have been required to clean my truck out and turn it in then take whatever was available when i returned...all in the name of profit...
This is an ex-gti thread and the smurf blue is no longer in my rear view mirror...double yellow, joseph1135, popcorn169 and 1 other person Thank this. -
You are mistaken. I worked for Shaffer before
I went to work for Heartland. Crete does control
everything. My paystubs said Crete on them.
On the side of every tractor it says Crete-Shaffer
When I drove for Heartless I never had an
Invertor in any truck I drove. Yes the new trucks
they buy have them and they are 400 watts. If
these two companies Crete- Shaffer and Hartburn
are so great why the constant advertising to
attract new drivers to work for them?drvrtech77 and tow614 Thank this. -
1500 watts, not 400.
