Okay, I'm ready to seal the deal. The lenders being a pita but thinking its gonna go. The truck is a 07 Century with a 14L Detroit 900,000 miles. I have done everything I can to find out about the truck:
RigDig showed 2 violations, 1. Tire 2. Brake.
Freightliner/Detroit said it has had Fifth wheel repair in 08, Housing Assembly but no details in 09, Sensors and replaced Gasket but no details in 10, and a new turbo in 12.
Company said they had no problems with the unit even gave me unit number and said there was no major work other than general maintenance and repairs.
My concern is the truck has all original everything except turbo so should I be concerned with a 900k Detroit. I won't be OTR so I'm not gonna be putting a lot of miles on it possibly 60k a year. Anyone have any thoughts on this.

How much do they want for it? Are you prepared to do an in-frame in a year or less? Will they let you pull an oil sample and have it looked at? Did you get a printout of the ECM?
-
25,000 on the truck. I haven't got to see it in person considering its in Denver 1700 miles away. No oil sample or printout. Haven't asked for them didn't know if they would do it for me. I know that in a year is could possibly need a inframe, considering how much oil it uses if any. I have 50 pictures of it, covering all corners and its clean straight and well taken care of. I wasn't nervous and was ready to do it an now I'm getting concerned now that the papers are about to be here to sign.

Sight unseen is a risky move. I just moved from the Denver area back to Houston this week, who is the dealer?
-
MHC Kenworth. I have been told by guys that anymore it's a risky move regardless. Guy around here just bought one paid for dyno samples everything had it two weeks an blew a head gasket. So I don't know if it's just a stupid move or if I'm just over thinking it.

Do you have a nice maintenance account already set up? 10k is right around where I like mine to be. At least have CCs if no liquid cash as long as you are strict with paying it off and know you have a good amount of income coming in.
-
Run for the hills. I am more than familiar with MHC Denver and the Greeley stores. They talk a great game, but the quality of the equipment tends to leave a lot to be desired. Did they tell you it was a local trade in? Let me guess, it still has a switch from a PTO installed? Most trucks they get there lived in the Oil Field and have been abused. Others come from local companies like JBS Meats, aren't taken much better care of.
Who is the salesman you are working with?
IF you cannot crawl under it with a flashlight, and get familiar with every square inch before making an offer. YOU are potentially buying someone else problems without even knowing it.mrbmg Thanks this. -
Also sounds like it's pre Def but will have egr. First thing I would do is do the egr barometric sensor switch and get rid of that egr eating up your profits.
-
What are the carriers requirements for the equipment?
-
