Many examples of this out there. Anderson has owned Midwest Specialized and Warren Transport for years, never a name change. Crete also owns Hunt Transportation(flatbedders).
-
I think Duane Ackley still owns Hunt as a separate company. Tonn hasn't gotten his hands on it yet.
-
It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Crete and still has a different DOT number.Bumper Thanks this.
-
Still have never received any answer about what happens if a company driver WITHOUT idle reduction technology gets a ticket for idling, especially in NY state and PA.....never received on yet, and do not expect to!!!
-
Shaffer runs under the same DOT number as Crete and their phones are answered as Crete/Shaffer trucking. All their trucks now have Crete Carriers and Shaffer Trucking on them, also Anhauser Busch would NOT let Crete pull a Shaffer trailer out if Shaffer was not on the door of the truck and vice versa...

Ok people Have you missed me
yet. Im in west valley UT and have been busy bumping my 70 for over a week now. Its been a good trip and home time is the end of next week. Gonna need a full service also next week with the miles I have been running.
A lot of the problems I think here is problems between the driver and the DM. When I was in Indy I had a lot of problems that never seemed to get better. Now that I have a new terminal and DM I don't have near the problems that I had before. What will happen with the buyout I have no idea. I do know that I could get another job with no problem If things don't work out here.
I think it would be a good idea for companies to relly listen to what drivers have to say. Its becoming a drivers world ot there with fright getting better and rates going up. Good drivers can start to write there own ticket and It would be a good idea for a companies to understand that.
I guess time will tell......joseph1135, drvrtech77, chowick1966 and 3 others Thank this. -
I hope you're doing well greyhound! Remember, there is a lot of doors open if it goes south, but here's to your continued success my friend.

Hey HOAT !!!! Does heartland pay you to troll the internet and watch out for any negative criticism.....
Just wondering.....
also ... have you ever been a driver or just an office guy....joseph1135, drvrtech77 and DenaliDad Thank this. -
No, this isn't my job. I'm not even close to a recruiting, P.R., or advertising type role. But I am genuinely interested in helping the company and helping share actual factual information that some people out there might be interested in.
The reasons Heartland wanted to buy GTI:
People talent - great talented, hardworking, dedicated people throughout the office and shops, and driving.
Safe, experienced drivers - very similar culture to Heartland. Lot of long-tenured drivers with many years of experience at both companies, and many 1 million and 2 million and 3 million mile safe drivers at both companies. Many of the drivers at both GTI and Heartland have been there for over 10 years. Lot of trucking experience there. Without the quality of the GTI drivers matching the quality of the Heartland drivers, it wouldn't have been a good acquisition.
Similar top-notch, blue-chip customers and commitment to customer service - we both haul for some of the best customers in the world that pay for service and partnership. There is no carrier in America that has won more Carrier of the Year awards than these two companies over the last 3 years.
Diversified lines of business - GTI operating many lines of business that Heartland wasn't doing, such as TC, heavy haul, etc. and offered growth opportunity among our existing customers in those markets.
Very little overlap geographically - one of the best carriers in the West combining with one of the best carriers in the East and South. Also the location of the terminals fit perfectly together with very little overlap.
Similar cultures of safety - Heartland has the number 1 best CSA scores of all for-hire carriers, and GTI has the number 2 best CSA scores. I realize some people don't believe CSA scores correlate to safe carriers, but the CSA are a reflection of quality and maintenance of equipment, and many other factors relating to safety.
Heartland has high standards, and combining with GTI wasn't going to lower those standards.
The additional size and scope makes us more important to the customer base and able to leverage more freight.
The reasons the Gordons wanted to sell to Heartland:
All the same reasons above, plus..
GTI considered Heartland 'best in class', and would not have considered a deal with anyone else.
Gave Steve and Scott a chance to continue with a significant presence in the trucking business, as Larry retired.
Offered an opportunity to make sure the office, shop, and driver employees would be taken care of, and have a continued opportunity with a successful, stable organization. Not many carriers out there that pay drivers more than Heartland does.
