I was supposed to do phase 1 in Greer, but like I said with me reporting this Monday I am not sure how it will work. As I said I will do it however they want.
Finally getting to start.

They will likely just send you out with the mentor and you'll do the 5 day class (although it quite often gets shortened if you know what you are doing) for phase II when you finish up the required training time. Good luck with however it goes and hopefully I'll bump into ya Monday before they load me.

That does kind of seem like what she said but I could not hear everything as I was traveling with the windows down. As far as Monday I was told to get there early but still have some things to do before I leave so maybe we will get the opportunity to meet.

Ok, I won't try to insult you, but somebody has misinformed you. There is NO indentured servitude at Swift, after your school you are free to work where ever you want to. The ONLY THING you are required to do is pay back the loan from Swift, if you took one, for the schooling. You can make arrangements to pay it back thru the company you go to work for. All Swift asks is that you keep them informed of your whereabouts and make good on your promise to pay it off.
Good for you that you don't need a loan and can pay it up front. I haven't seen the revolving door either, went to Swift school a long time ago and have been here ever since, and doing and getting exactly what I want, and get paid decently for it too!
Yes sir, lots of newbies at Swift, but there is also lots of drivers that have been around lots of years and many many miles.
Now you go get your CDL from where ever you want to get it. I wish you much luck and success, but remember you are choosing to start from where you think it is right for you, just like the drivers at Swift. Some will make it, many will not. It's like that everywhere.Gunner75, Moosetek13, A21CAV and 1 other person Thank this. -
The problem is I had considered Swift, for about 2 days. Till my dad filled me in on his experience with paying back their school. granted this was years ago, but when it comes to so many places and people give bad reviews, Ill just stay clear. If the attitude is the same as a couple of the previous posters, then is best I definitely steer clear. -

Gunner, look at it this way. There are over 16,000 people driving for Swift right now. How many of us 16,000 are complaining? Not many. Some folks just have a hard time getting used to trucking and the rules we have to work under. Yeah, Swift makes mistakes sometimes, what company doesn't. Think of all the people that have worked for Swift over the years, a very small percentage of those had a problem, the vast majority have not, and have used Swift for a few years then moved on to their own greener pastures. Some of those guys, can you believe it, CAME BACK to Swift!
I look at it this way, every company out there is an S O B, it is learning to work the system of that company that will make you successful. Number one rule is, don't be lazy, you got to do the work!blsqueak, Gunner75, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this. -
Gunner, I am one of those with lots of exp. I also heard bad about swift for many years. Came here over 3 years ago, 1 month later, got a nice truck through their program, and still here. Has there been problems, yes. Are there still, yes. But for the most part, it has been good.
inkeper Thanks this.
