That's a matter of opinion and we all are entitled to one and you might decide differently after spending some time trying to maneuver a conventional in tight quarters, I've had both and yes I "love my cab over" no different than Pete's over KW's or Freightliners. They serve a purpose and do it well. And yes that shifter takes some getting used to and when the linkages wear like everything else on older trucks you replace it.

Spent a lot of time in a 1978 K100 Aerodyne with double bunk beds so I will say this..... I'm 6'-2" tall and never had a moments problem getting dressed in it. Actually it was a nice ride "ALL AROUND" even without power steering, most of the harping came from those who lacked the ability to judge their distance in a Cabover, it is a whole new beast compared to a hood. I own a Transtar Cabover "B" model for those that know what that is, not a cadillac but a good low mileage truck that rides and drives actually pretty good, for a Cabover. If I could own 1 Cabover from my past it would be the 1976 Peterbilt "Patriot" with a 290 / 10 spd that I drove for machinery hauling....Go ahead and google that and see how many are still out there. All in all, yea I would take a hood over a cabover, lot easier to work on the engine, and yes less strenuous getting in and out as we age.Mooose, semi retired semi driver and WitchingHour Thank this. -
18 speed eaton fuller. There are also plenty around with 18 speed auto. Both work fine for highway trucks.
