Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

that's awesome! yea I am in the convenience store dist. and its not that bad but im just ready to stretch my legs out and ride. whats the passenger and pet policy? do solo drivers have to drive those macks?

 

My husband is a solo driver and he is in a volvo. Very nice inside two beds his bottom bed right now is a table. He got a build in fridge which he takes homecook meals on the road with him so he doesnt eat out. There is room in the vovlo for his tv and microwave. His truck has bluetooth build into it. I dont know what the other trucks looks like inside but am also guessing nice too.
Best part if your truck in the shop at the yard they do have a loaner for u to run with. I dont know all the details of this ones.

 

My husband, gntorres (George), a.k.a. Deuce, drives a Mack. Few actually drive a Volvo, however, (I'm sure George will chime in here before long! ), the trucks are well-maintained and within the last 3 year's models. They are great at doing repairs when break downs occur. Even though the Mack is on the small side (bumps his head at least once daily!), it runs well and everything is in good running order. He has only been with Abilene since December, 2013 but absolutely loves the company and raves about how nice everyone is (drivers, office staff, & customers)!

 

Hey moving on 81, you drive what is available. I got a MACK, wanted a Volvo or Freightliner, but my MACK is a 2013, newer than than the 08 Freightliner temporary ride I was given. Since I am 5'6" on a good day, I could foresee getting the MACK. I crack the top of my head on a daily basis, but the taller guys would break their nose or jaw and really all in all is a very good truck. But it's only good for one person. Not enough space or storage like the Volvos and Freightliners. They also have Kenworths here too. A small pet of 25 pounds or less is allowed with a $500 refundable deposit, which is taken out of five paychecks. The passenger policy is you must have in writing the person who will be travelling with you recorded in the office plus a $16 per month or per paycheck deduction for their insurance. As Jungho said, I've been here at Abilene since before Thanksgiving, and I LOVE IT HERE. If the Jones don't sell out, I will be here a very long time. That's how much I think of this company. This is the oasis in the desert that is the trucking industry. You won't touch the freight. The miles and the freight are very good. The maintenance department is among the best in the country. The CSA scores will bear that out (cb39.org). The equipment is excellent. The people are terrific. Drivers too. The willingness to help one another is absolutely galvanizing. When an organization such as Abilene promotes such a great atmosphere, you can't help but want to help your fellow drivers. I hope this helps. Hope to see you here.

I finally got a load. I had to sit in Salt Lake City most of the day, but now I am in Eureka, NV for a pick up in the morning going to Wilmington, CA. I'm sitting at the Eureka Producers Co-op. I am taking my 10 here so I can scale in the morning and then head to the farm where I am to pick up my load. I am very thankful I was able to find this place in the dark as this is a very remote area. Check your maps, you will see what I mean. On the upside, I haven't been able to see so many stars in the night sky in a long time. I had to sit outside for a bit just to appreciate it. I could even hear coyotes howling. It's a nice change from sitting at a truck stop.

 

with me being in so cal and a solo driver how often would I be by the house etc I'm also wanting to train new drivers etc I live by the pilot in Hesperia ca
