There is still merit for unions in some industries. If trucking had not been deregulated, and it's drivers exempted from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, we would all be solidly middle income ($75-$100k/yr) career drivers, while working fewer hours, and there would be little turnover in the industry. With the drivers that share the road with us today, you couldn't get them to organize anything meaningful without other drivers back-stabbing them.

I think union members have tarnished their own reputation by treating non-union members like garbage. As many of you already know, all you have to do is pick up or deliver to a union paper mill, grocery warehouse, or auto plant, to see first hand the arrogant behavior of some of these pretentious arses at work, and the disparaging signage everywhere telling you how much they don't want to be bothered by your presence. They even treat their own new members like crap, much the same as a fraternity hazes it's pledges.

I disagree with your quote. I thought DFO's quote was spot on. When ever some one mentions a union we all know just how much they suck and how arrogant union workers are. Its been a while but I was being loaded by a union worker and all he had to do was put two more pallets on my truck that would have taken 2 minutes at the most and I could have left, but no it was lunch time and god knows that little fat ###### had to eat so he left me sitting there for over an hour waiting on his sorry union ### to get off lunch break.
All unions are bad for this country. Like I've always said, at one time there was a need for them but that time has past a long time ago.

Seems to me that unions work the coasts. I'm from ND and the only "major" union up there is the #### railroad.

DFO - Seems like you started a #### storm in here over unions.

Since when do unions work anywhere? My bad, I meant union "workers." I've been in a couple unions and the only thing they do is protect the jobs of lazy people who know they can't get fired as easy as non-union workers. Perfect case, Coca-Cola in Eagan, MN. Fork truck drivers had to start driving backwards with a load on their forks. They did a deliberate slow down, and the company couldn't do #### about it.

And it goes from zero to offtopic again in 1 post because someone just had to get offended by what was obviously a lighthearted joke about a *** **** JAKE BRAKE.

Enough about unions. Go down to truckers rants and whine about them there. Why participate in my thread if all someone is gonna do is look for a reason to pick a fight based on deliberately taking something out of context like a 4th grade bully on the playground.

But 4th grade is when I peaked. It's all been downhill since then.

Out of curiosity though - did over revving the engine actually do something or did it just make you feel good?

Hey DFO didn't you get the computer software to hook up to your truck? If so how do you like it?
